I’m sure there are holes in this theory that you guys can poke, but why not have de facto team “owners” in college football?
The “owners” can easily pay the “salaries” of the players through NIL deals with their company and the team no longer has to worry about finding NIL deals. The school would “donate” a portion of their football earnings to the “owner” and the amount would be incentive based (based on wins). The owner would likely not be allowed to be seen as an owner though.
It seems like a win-win for everyone in the NIL era if your school does this early, so why not?
