Now that I've had time to digest the Grier news, I don't really feel as devastated (from a fan's perspective). The new coaching staff has given me a new found confidence in the statement "next man up". We heard statements like this all the time from the Muschamp camp, but it went in one ear and out the other.
This team brims with confidence and uniformity. Under Muschamp the players seemed bitter, unconfident, angry and ready to slit the first guys throat who looked at them funny. While I like the underdog role (when the shoe fits), I always felt like the previous staff had an "us against the world" mentality. There is a big difference.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the players have a FNB theme at some point even? F Non Believers...
The most important thing that can happen now is that Treon embraces a leadership role, keeps his nose clean off the field, and the rest of the team rallies around him. Most teams would love to have someone like Treon as a backup...I think we will be fine. If Muschamp was still here this would be a back breaker.
