Unbelievable what our public schools have become since they stopped letting them have any real control over the students. Also what the heck is that school deputy doing not throwing cuffs on that kid as he could have did the same thing to someone else. I wonder if he was put on that assignment for being useless on the road or something.

This kid is 6'6" and 270 pounds. In the old days they had certain teachers that were football coaches or wrestling coaches and things like that which would put a kid like this in their place before things got to where something like this happened. Now they just let the inmates run the asylum. I don't see how teachers can work in the new environment where they just have to take being disrespected by the students and have to worry about being attacked like this but then again I can I guess since most of these teachers are crazy lefties that pushed for what allowed all this.

Responded to a call last night where two adults got into a knife fight. The argument started over something they were watching on TV. Several other "adults" were there but the only person sober enough to explain what happened was 15.

Nice kid, involved in sports at school and he's doing well academically. Tried explaining to him that what happened was abnormal behavior. I don't know that he understood but I truly hope so.

I have heard many such stories. There were even worse ones than this one. I heard that the teacher asked to study a raisin in the sun essay, he learn here and the teacher recognized it and put a deuce. You understand what happened next. Such teenagers need to be isolated simply and re-educated.

This unfortunate creature was the product of a baby mama and a baby daddy and was probably just lucky to get two diaper changes a day and watered down Similac. Fed garbage food from WIC and SNAP or food stamps.
He most likely had NO parenting other than a tired Grandmama. A kid the size of an NFL lineman bodied a small woman and then began to beat her mercilessly as she laid on the ground unconscious while her coworkers watched.

Listening to him he sounds like he probably has a real low IQ. That is another issue in public schools now. Having special needs in regular classes constantly disrupting things to where the teacher cant do their jobs. I wouldnt send a kid to public schools today except for a few rare areas.

My kids both seem to be doing ok.

They know what to stay away from and who to avoid. But it’s not easy. There’s so much vaping and BS in the bathrooms my oldest went all the way through without ever going to the bathroom during the day.

My youngest finished with all A’s and one B and is pretty popular. One of my players went to UVA, the other tOSU.

Some kids are making it work.

We need asylums. Call them something else if it makes us feel more comfortable but we have to have a special place that isn't jail or prison, but they aren't free to come and go, for our mentally ill.

As it stands, these people cycle in between our county jails, abandoned buildings or roadside underpasses and that's not sustainable.

We had this same discussion this very day. I will say I never got an ass whuppin at school, because I was not only a good kid, but I was a lot smarter than the average bear. I knew if I got caught doing something effed up at school, I'd get the hole drilled paddle at school and then another ass beating when my dad found out. I've always been resistant to authority since I was born, but mama didn't raise a dumbass. I thank my parents every day for this eternal wisdom.

I don't subscribe to "let's get him to the counselor" mentality after a certain point. Anyone who has owned a dog knows when it's a lack of discipline or a time to put it down. There are just some breeds where there is no redemption.

I've sent mine to public schools but we do have a tutor because it's just not enough.

We considered private schools and honestly I don't know if we chose wisely. We have good public schools here but they're turning and it's a race against the clock with my youngest.

My wife and I wanted them to experience the world and have them make choices with consequences. We wanted them to know the people in their community. When we made that choice the downside wasn't that bad...but like I said, it's getting there.

Parenting is critical. @goldmom has that right - a loving home with two active parents gives a kid the best shot. It can be done with one - I grew up in a little of both - but a stable upbringing is usually easier on the kid. Either way love and attention and caring are the key.

Public schools represent society. I know some successful home schooled kids and I’ve seen some outright disasters. Anyone who has all the answers doesn’t. Kids and situations vary too much.

I’m big time in favor of school choice. I get how it can be misused for athletics and how it can keep low performance schools in the gutter…but those schools aren’t getting better under the current system.

Parents have to decide and do what they are capable of and what they think is right. The rest will sort itself out.
