Admittedly the implications of who will be leading our program are huge. But....I find it kind of comical that so many fans have "sources" and that they are all over the board. There are UF beat writers that are guessing and high up national sports followers who are as dazed as those of us without our sources. However, my neighbor's mother whose daughter flunked out of UF said....

We have to accept that "true at the time" can be a reality. Very reputable people said they had 3 confirmed sources and reported what was "true at the time". Things change. Urban Meyer accepted the ND job before finalizing with UF and Billy was the coach of Orlando Magic for a minute. It was true at the time. Enjoy the ride...
Now...I would like to have a coach announced this week, so we can get 50+ kids on campus for the final home game. Only option for that is Kelly. Frost is a home run hire, but he might not agree to announce he is coming next week, which is a must and I would be lying if I said, 'I'm not worried that if we miss on Kelly, Frost won't go to Nebraska and leave us with our 3rd choice."

I never remember hearing that Notre dame had actually signed Meyer like with this situation but he did meet with the AD and other people from both schools in early December. It may have even been on the same day.
Seems to me that most of the anonymous sources have been pretty accurate to this point. I think most of us doubted that UF would even consider Kelly, much less try to have him locked up before Thanksgiving. But that's what UF is trying to do, consistent with most of what I've read on these boards (from the posters who generally know what they're talking about).
It hasn't been accurate at all even if he signed last night or today. On all these sites a while back it was a 100% done deal basically and it would just be the timing of the announcement. Not trying to dog anyone because my predictions suck bad also basing them off of the rumors. I am sure they were told it was a 100% done deal a ways back by their sources however.
The “done deal” stuff got a little carried away but it sounds like it was a done deal from UFs perspective. Definitely sounds like there was an offer on the table. The UAA May have overestimated Kelly’s interest in getting a deal done with UF and getting it done quick, but as far as all the “sources” they were just repeating what they heard from inside the UAA.
Chip is the "pretty girl at the dance," and with UCLA suddenly in play, there are now "too many [boys] on the dance floor." The pretty girl is suddenly in a position to take her time and be choosy.
What worries me is that Chip may have had his eye on UCLA the whole time but they were dragging their feet firing Mora. He flirts with Florida, and all of a sudden Mora is out of a job. Not that Mora was any good, but an in-season firing was pretty aggressive there. UCLA is a pretty good situation. Mora recruited, so there's talent there, maybe more than UF; their recruiting base is about as good as Florida's; they just dropped $70 mill on a sick football facility; and nobody in LA gives a toss about UCLA football. They'll show up and party if you win, but nobody will really notice if you lose.
