I will start with what we can always do better, but I want to focus on what I believe is happening...
Went to school in the early '80's and have seen the highs and lows of UF football since then. I have been a supporter and critic of Napier, but I am now all in. The cliches of Rome wasn't built in a day and a building is only as strong as its foundation are true. We live in a society that wants everything now and Billy has shown incredible strength in staying the course and making changes to improve each year.
I can go into how we started the season poorly and the game day miscues but consider the following:
The offensive line has gone from a weakness to a strength. These guys have played lights out the last Half of the season and you may not like Sale as a recruiter, but damn he is developing these kids.
The defensive line looked lost against Miami, but they are nasty and come crashing down on the QB's now. They are blowing up top OL's and causing sacks and TO's.
The DB's are playing great ball. We have lost 3 starters and these kids keep stepping up. We are seeing guys like Bryce and DD evolve from bit players to studs,
Our special teams went from a joke the last few years to a strength.
All of the above has happened with major injuries and multiple starters out. There is something to be said about culture and trust and heart. We may not all like Billy as a game day coach but boy that man is creating a culture that lasts, that perseveres through adversity, that makes you believe when there seems to be no hope.
NOBODY thought we would win these last two games. With any kind of luck we would have beaten uga and Tenn and talking playoffs and conference championship game. Our team is young and we are finishing the season on a high note and NOBODY wants a piece of this team right now. Let's enjoy what is happening. We deserve it. We've been in the desert for a while and if you can't feel something changing you are blind. There is a very good chance we finish this season on a very high note, continue bringing in top talent from HS and the portal and then these kids go through the offseason knowing they can beat anybody. Let's enjoy this and give thanks for being a Florida Gator over the holidays. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
