Holdouts on Gator Team Fall Practice.

WR/RB Kadarius Toney Sr

WR Trevon Grimes Sr

WR Jacob Copeland rsSo

DE Zachary Carter rsJr

First off, they and any others have the freedom and right to make their own choices, and I support their right to do so.

IF they are not practicing, then they can socialize more and can become a risk to the rest of the team. I can do without them for entertainment (ZC), and they can do without having UF help them become Professional multi-millionaires. o_O
Replace them, deny them training time with coaches since they won't need it, and move on....

UF dropping football entirely and permanently is still an open option.

Or if some black players really feel they are being abused, then maybe UF should return to a more balanced white/black roster and the others can return to attending black colleges where they won't be so abused....

I recognize that not all of the black players are holdouts, only a few, nor are they all in support of the BLM organization. (of course the lives of black people matter)

EITHER ALL LIVES MATTER IN AMERICA, OR NONE DO. o_O

I served my country in the military and we all knew that we all bleed red with no color distinction.

As far as BLM, it's a Marxist anti-American organization that should be banned from the UF campus.
IMOHO, both BLM and ANTIFA (both funded by socialist Geroge Soros) should be designated as violent domestic terrorists and treated accordingly.

I welcome open and honest discussion on the above points of opinion.

I may not agree with your points or you with mine, but I've volunteered to fight for our right to debate our separate opinions, so drag up your soapbox and have at it....

On the Gator Blue (sports) board, this thread already has 158 reads after being quickly locked out by the Mod. Now add in the 41 reads it's gotten here in one day.

My only surprise is that while getting 3 likes here, it has zero reply's so far....

Was the RB the opt-out, or one of the hurt wanting to save eligibility?

Instant... he’s a senior wants to stay healthy apparently for the draft. He will be lucky to go 4-5th round

Confused???
Then how does that make him a BIG LOSS?
If he's a big loss then your RB roster depth much be chit...

Zzzzzzzzzzz

He has the most experience and is very good college back. The rest of the RB are very young. We lost Sermon another experienced back who transferred to tOSU.

The jokes on him at tOSU since they are too wussy to play in 2020.
=====

The Gators have 5 quality RB's for 2020, and all of them are fair receivers, with a couple of them looking to be better than just fair.

However, IF they continue to hold out or opt out, WR takes a hit.

WR/RB Kadarius Toney Sr (slot)
WR Trevon Grimes Sr
WR Jacob Copeland rsSo

But even though they are the most college experienced WR's on the roster, I'm not to worried about them not playing in 2020. Why is that you might ask?

WR Rich Wells 6-0 202 rsSr
WR Trent Whittemore 6-3 192 rsFr
WR Ja'Markis Weston 6-3 217 rsFr
WR Xavier Henderson 6-3 180 Fr
WR Jaquavion Fraziars 6-3 194 Fr
Those 3 opt outs may not have a spot in 2021, if they even return...

TE Kyle Pitts 6-6 239 Jr (starter (TE/WR, All SEC, 54 Rec. in 2019)
TE Kemore Gamble 6-3 241 rsJr
TE Dante Lang 6-5 252 rsSo
TE Keon Zipperer 6-2 232 So (TE/H-back, very good receiver)
TE Jonathan Odom 6-5 252 Fr (good hands)
-----
Plus we have 2 looking to get waivers to play. Shorter & Pouncey.
And then there are the Ath types and some quality W-O's, i.e.
Ath Jaylin Jackson 5-8 172 (slot and return man)

So, are you sand-baggin' or do you think those 4 will hurt OK's chances?

In the aftermath, Toney and Grimes posted nebulous messages on Twitter that suggested they have not opted out of the season, and Carter's father, Frank Carter, told GatorsTerritory.com that his son has concerns about COVID-19 and is "just taking the cautious route."

JMOHO, 'but it's time for those 4 to either chit, or get off the pot. o_O

Agree. Keeping the team in limbo is Bravo Sierra

So if what I hear is true that Kaiir Elam will get some reps at WR, he can replace Kadarius Toney's 3 plays per game.

I'm kinda hoping Ath Jaylin Jackson rsSo (WR/ST's) gets a shot at that job.

Prep: Played CB, WR and wcQB as he helped lead his team to the 2015 FHSAA State Championship Game with a 12-1 overall record… Helped guide his team to the FHSAA State Semifinals as a senior in 2017… Ended his career with a record of 30-5 as the starting QB for the Lancers… Finished high school with 5,621 total passing yards, 66 touchdowns, 1,858 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns…

On defense he totaled 40 tackles and six interceptions… Chose to walk-on at Florida over offers from Kentucky, Colorado State, Army, Air force, and Georgia State… Played point guard on his high school team.

Report that ALL 4 holdouts are now practicing with the team.
Good for them and good for all Gator fans. 😎

They are free to leave their scholarship and play for Bethune Cookman or FAMU. Don't let the door hit ya in the arse.

"One thing we need to take from them not being there to start practice is that we really don’t know why all of them did it and in the end we shouldn’t judge."

They stood in judgement and they took actions. But now we're not supposed to be intelligent enough to understand the what and the why and make our own judgments in response to theirs??? >>> See/read today's article on this.

That's a load of horsechit imoho. Personal Responsibility requires judgment of actions.

Their aborted attempt at a 'power play' failed miserably so they have now returned to practice. 🤓

Forgive and forget are still possible outcomes. However the memory remains to consider and to judge all future actions on. Fool me once....

Using career violent criminal George Floyd's dying for any actions is more horsechit. I've now seen the entire video of the arrest interaction, and if I was on the jury, those police officers would not be charged with murder because he died. And my 'judgement' wouldn't change if Floyd was of any other race, color, or creed. Justice really should be blind to those things. 😇

Just like ANTIFA and BLM are both violent domestic terrorists organizations that are funded with millions of dollars by violent anti-American Socialist George Soros, and they should all be run outta America on a rail... 🤬

Dan has a job and a team to accommodate, so he makes his own judgments accordingly.

I have no such (excuse accepting) requirements looking out of my own little fan/citizen window. I have no power nor any responsibility to deal with them, but I do have a heart and a brain to make my own decisions about the what, why, and how on what goes on. My own personal responsibility and my 'FREEDOM' requires that I think for myself and make my own judgments and take my own actions after doing so.

Having done so, I will put their recent actions in abeyance for now, and watch what they do next and in the future. "They are back, so now we'll all see..."

So, could this have anything to do with players returning to practice? 🤓

Florida’s wide receiver depth received a boost in recent days with projected starters Trevon Grimes, Jacob Copeland and Kadarius Toney reporting for fall camp.

Defensive end Zachary Carter, the fourth holdout from last week, has also joined the team at practice. Gators Territory first reported the news Monday.

"It’s good to have those guys out there, all our guys,” UF coach Dan Mullen said Tuesday. “I support all the decisions the guys make, obviously. They've got a lot going on, a lot of little different personal deals. We’re here to support them and help them as best we can. Good to have some of those guys out to create some depth.”

The absence of Grimes, Copeland and Toney left the Gators with seven players at the position and just three upperclassmen, with redshirt senior Rick Wells being the only returner. The other two are transfers Jordan Pouncey (Texas) and Justin Shorter (Penn State), both of whom still have waiver requests pending with the NCAA.

Shorter, a former five-star recruit, was the leader of the unit with Florida’s top three receivers out.

“You have a veteran guy like Justin Shorter doing an unbelievable job
. He was there kind of leading the way,” Mullen said. “It was great for him. Great adjustment for him being an older, veteran guy getting in there while those guys were gone and really showed what he can do.”

Redshirt freshmen Ja’Markis Weston and Trent Whittemore have also impressed so far in camp. Both were hyped up last year by Florida’s senior receivers as players to watch, and they’ve made significant strides since then according to Mullen.

“You look at obviously Trent,” he said, “got fabulous hands, very smart, we can play him, he knows all three different receiver positions, gives you a lot of flexibility out there on the field and you can be able to move him around. Ja'Markis, I've seen just an unbelievable improvement from him from this time last year. Last year, he was coming in and he was this really this big, athletic guy.

“Now you watch him route running, you watch his ability catching the ball. He’s catching the ball so much better. That gets you really excited about those young guys. Now, going from these guys that show little flashes and say that they could be great players to seeing them actually do it every day within the system is pretty exciting.”

True freshman wideouts

Xzavier Henderson
and
Ja’Quavion Fraziars
are already showing those little flashes at practice. Henderson has stood out with his speed and fluidity, while Fraziars brings some size and physicality to the position.

Both have received first-team reps in camp, especially when the starters were out.

“If you're a freshman, you wanna Wally Pipp people. Get in there, man,” Mullen said, referencing Lou Gehrig. “The (freshmen) receivers obviously got opportunities to go get up there. And hey, once you get that opportunity to go step in the 1 huddle, hold on to that opportunity right there. Don’t let anybody take you out.”
