According to Fox News the national Park association wants to stop calling US citizens Americans and start calling them, “members of a community.”

How much longer are we going to let 15 to 20% of this country dictate to the rest of us and change our nation?

I am an American and in some small way I will help battle this nonsense. I will be teaching the Citizenship in the World Merit badge. Its got a bit of world citizen nonsense but isnt to overt. I can put the kibosh on it when I teach it. I am going to do cit in nation as well. I get to teach on dec of ind, constitution, amendments etc.

Image the fun I am going to have. Think I will quote John Jay when I get to the judicial branch and definitely Adams.

“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers. National prosperity can neither be obtained nor preserved without the favor of Providence.” - John Jay 1st Chief Justice of SCOTUS

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."- John Adams

This is puzzling because an American just has to be from the Americas to qualify for that label. That's quite inclusive especially since the US is allowing people from Central and South America into our country by the thousands almost daily.

It's simply remarkable what is happening and at the speed it is happening.

I hope that with Amerigo Vespucci and Columbus we can still celebrate the remarkable spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation that they exhibited, but be fulsome in the reporting noting that Vespucci held slaves and that Columbus did perform atrocities.

The constitution was designed to give the minority an equal voice. So it's not a change to our nation. It's actually the American way 🤷🏽‍♂️.

But I do agree that the name change is stupid.

No actually the constitution was not designed to give the minority an “equal” voice. Perhaps you thinking about another document?

For Pavlov's dogs perhaps. You immediately come to the defense of all woke activities posted on this forum. 😂
I said I agree with him, did you read?

I also said giving the minority a voice is the American way.

If we followed his thinking then the republican party would be in trouble "the Democratic half of the Senate represents 41,549,808 more people than the Republican half"

What in the hell does that have to do with the National Parks System deleting "American" from their vocabulary? What the hell does calling Americans "Americans" have to do with minority voices? Are you not an American? If not, my apologies.

The united States citizens have always been called AMERICANS.
(they are also N.Americans by geography)
==========

Canadians (are also N.Americans by geography)

Mexicans (are also N.Americans by geography)

Panamanians (are Central Americans by geography)

Colombians (are S.Americans by geography)

But NONE of them are ever called Americans.....

PS
The National Parks Association is made up of IDIOTS, not Americans....

US Nationals is most appropriate for US citizens.
Not to rain on your parade Sunny, but I've been a Floridian and an AMERICAN for my entire long life.
But what others have called me at times
🤗,,,, has never changed me or my mind on me being an American.

I'm also a 'native American' having been born here in Florida.
My own surname tribe having arrived at Ipswich, Mass in 1648.
As a tribe, we are explorers that are currently in all 50 States, and in at least 32 other countries.
Those others in other countries are still my tribesmen, but are not Americans.

With no disrespect at all intended, you native Oreo's can call yourselves whatever floats your boat....
😁

Chief Redbird Smith is the Great Grandfather of the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma.

To quote Mr. Spock,,, Fascinating...

Mild Coincidence -- My Mother's maiden name was Smith.

I am 1/8 Indigenous American. My DNA analysis is from Genelex Labs in Seattle from 2008 and cost me $600.

I am 100%, Grade A, Gold plated, 24 carat Native American as most of us here are. I was born in Haskell County, Oklahoma which lay in the Americas. The US Census Bureau defines me as 1/8 Native.

US Nationals call themselves "Americans." Legions of other Americans perceive that as arrogance. My extensive dealings with Canadian Customs I was always a US National. I could always sense the feel of harmony with Canadian Customs.

Sorry I had to tell you twice, but I just wanted to make sure you got it.
Being too lazy to write a complete sentence is your own fault, not mine. And your lack of a good sense of humor caused your being trigger, not what I wrote.
Soooo,
😜.

It is amazing what you can learn with DNA.

As a "professional tourist" my many entrances into Canada always went like this:

"Are you American?"

"I'm a US National, and an American, like you."

I always brought smiles To Canadian Customs. They saw a non-arrogant American.
Did you tell him about that quiz you aced 60 years ago. 😎

FTFY

Sorry, but what some Nadian-snow-bird perceives as American arrogance is not my care, nor my problem.

And you haven't really seen ARROGANCE until you've had to deal with some of the many rich snot-nosed Nadians that stink up Florida every winter. I'd be just fine with them staying home and chin deep in snow instead.

Sunny, mine only cost me $100, but it wasn't a deep dig. I was born in Lakeland, FL
Mostly W.EU, with English/Scottish around 12-15%. The mixing and blending of my vast tribe continues as we explore and expand.

If it had gone far enough back, it would eventually likely lead to one of 'the 10 lost tribes of Israel.'
We were/are the adventurous explorers that continue to this day, to move about and explore the Earth. Might be why Star Trek appealed to me so much as a teenager.

My Travels / Explorations include:
Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland-Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, Sarasota, Ft. Meyers, Tallahassee, Pensacola, Panama City, Homestead, Key West, and so pretty much all over the entire state of Florida, by car, truck, van, motorcycles, airplanes (some were home built) bicycles, and boats, just to get started.

I've been...
From Portland Maine to Key West on the East coast.
From Tijuana to Seattle on the West coast.
Missed out on Vancouver due to an unexpected skirt mishap in Seattle.... 😉

Cities that I have flown in and out of.
Tampa-Miami-Jacksonville-Tallahassee--San Juan-New Orleans-Atlanta-Memphis-Chicago-Queens/NY-Seattle- Lewiston Id-Las Vegas-Sacramento-San Francisco-Los Angles-Honolulu-Guam-Manila-Subic Bay. And as a special treat, to a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier that was sitting in an active War Zone.

I have sailed and flown through both of the infamous Triangles, the Bermuda and the Japanese (also called the Dragon's Triangle or the Devil's Sea).

The most important thing that I've learned in my travels,,, is how much that I still don't know.
And it would take a book, for me to list all of the books that I've read.
Many travels and many books, but since the
'I Do' only one woman.

Now you guys know a lot more about me that you prolly ever wanted to...
