We landed 8 four-star commits at offensive skill positions. Here's the list:
QB
Feleipe Franks - #3 QB
Kyle Trask - NR
RB
Lamical Perine - #11 RB
Mark Thompson - Top Juco RB
WR - All 4 stars
Tyrie Cleveland - #15 WR
Josh Hammond - #35 WR
Freddie Swain - #36 WR
Rick Wells - #59 WR
Dre Massey - One of top Juco WRs
This is an impressive influx of skilled talent into our offense. We can talk all we want about the line of scrimmage but I think the last 4 years have demonstrated how little a decent OL can help your offensive productivity. Say what you want about our OL performance but I would argue they've been far from our weak link over the last 4 years. We've had a number of guys drafted and contributing in the pros.
We need offensive playmakers more than anything else. Mac brought in enough offensive talent to compete for a championship and I commend him on that.
Thankfully we have the horses on defense right now to tide us over until we hit the ground running on defense recruiting next year.
