another swing and miss with the kid from ga, can’t even get kids to visit, when clearly we have a need and an offense that can make them shine, sorry but we can’t keep looking at “plan G” if we want to compete for championships. Sure there might be portal options or even JC, but our recruiting at RB for a program on the rise in the state of FL should not be ignored by top recruits at RB. If you were at the auburn game this year, the swamp was electric and the roar was crazy when Perine scored in the end zone right in front of the recruits. How can we not sell that opportunity and environment?

IMO, RB like QB, if Gators sign 1 quality RB a year, we are golden.

Only 1 football, so too many RB leads to transfers.

FWIW - latest Crystal Ball for Henry Parrish shows Gators 60%, Miami 20%, Undecided 20%

Henry Parrish & Xzavier Henderson from same HS; would make a great package !

Good news is it's a position we already have depth. Both guys have proven they can be stars. We signed a top guy last year so it's not really a position of need

Brought to my attention this morning....Ga's backfield in 2020 will have a total star value of 24*.....is that a good thing? Cook, Milton, Mac, Zeus and Evans!

superdawg51,

Don't know how long they all stick around, but I think I could live with that ! LOL

Especially with your OL in front of them.

Like Woody Hays said, when you pass three things can happen & two of them are bad !

Good win for Dawgs in Sugar Bowl.

Thank you, great win for the gators as well in the Orange. I always pull for the SEC.

Yes, but in reality star value don't mean squat once they set foot on campus. Just means your potential is through the roof but still no guarantees.

BTW, every starting Gator RB, all the way back to before E.Smith, has gone on to the NFL. Some have done better than others there, but they ALL got their shot at the brass ring... Scarlett went a year ago, Perine goes this year.

The 2020 RB Roster,,, so far...

#1 RB Dameon Pierce 5-10 207 **** Jr - Baimbridge, Ga
Rushing - 123 for 729 yds, 5.9 ypc, 6 TD's, L-75
Receiving - 9 for 50 yds, 5.4 Yds/Rec, 1 TD, L-19

#2 RB Malik Davis 5-11 195 **** rsJr - Tampa
Rushing - 47 for 147 yds, 3.1 ypc, 1 TD, L-12
Receiving - 6 for 41 yds, L-10
(2 seasons hampered by injuries, slow coming back)

#3 RB/FS Iverson Clement 5-11 193 **** rsSo - Mount Holly, N.J.
Due to injuries impacting depth, he played backup FS as a tFr.
Rushing - 8 for 65 yds, 8.1 ypc, L-41.

#4 RB Nay'Quan Wright 5-9 195 **** rsFr - Miami
Rushing - 12 for 24 yds, 2.0 ypc L-5
Receiving - 1 for 4 yds
~ End of game running clock mop up with the 2-3 string offense.

JMOHO, #1 is rock-solid, but 2-3-4 will battle for their game minutes between now and Sept.

All four of those Gator 4-star RB's are top shelf 'Gator Standard' student-athlete-citizens.

If Davis can stay healthy, and get over the mental aspect of his injuries, he will be a stud. His freshman year he was tearing it up before he got hurt.

yeah he looked really good as a freshman. So promising, and now that seems like such a long time ago. Feel bad for him.

Insta,

You listed career stats; none of the returning RBs did anything worth talking about in 2019.

We all realize, that our OL could not run block & Mullen gave up on the running game early in the season.

Instead of sugar coating their rushing stats, why don't we look reality in the face ?

Here are their 2019 stats

DAMEON PIERCE
54 ATT...305 yds...4 TD

MALIK DAVIS
34 att....86 yds...1 TD

IVERSON CLEMENT
3 att.....48 yds...0 TD

NAY'QUAN WRIGHT
12 att....24 yds...0 TD

LAMICAL PERINE
132 att...676 Yds...6 TD

All four of those Gator 4-star RB's are top shelf 'Gator Standard' student-athlete-citizens.

No argument; hopefully our OL gets better & gives these guys a chance to contribute !

I would disagree Jeff. Dameon Pierce is a very good RB and has proven himself

Paco,

we will have to disagree on that; realize our OL could not even spell run blocking, much less do it, but none of our RB impressed.
Well Pierce averaged 5.6 yards per carry this year and 6.1 yards per carry last year. I’d say that is pretty good so sorry I don’t agree with you. Now I don’t think he is some big time player but I do believe he is a good RB.

Pierce is a beast and breaks tackles...not sure how good a blocker or catching the ball he is but he's made plays....Jax you're right Mullen gave up on the run game mainly and played to our strength but we still tried to run it. Our RB's had nowhere to go last season on the ground. I expect to be better running the ball but we'll have to see.
