Notre Dame was No. 5 on our list until coach Brian Kelly dismissed starting safety Max Redfield on Sunday after he and five other Fighting Irish players were arrested over the weekend. Of the four teams with five players in our preseason top 150 -- Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas A&M -- the Gators have the most top-end talent (four players in our top 35). A year after having five defenders selected in the draft, including two in the first 17 picks (CB Vernon Hargreaves III and S Keanu Neal), Florida will again be stacked on defense. CB Jalen Tabor has the athleticism and ball skills to fill Hargreaves' shoes. Meanwhile, S Marcus Maye is more well-rounded and steadier in coverage than Neal, if not quite as violent versus the run. In 2015, the Gators ranked eighth in total defense and 11th in points allowed. With the potential of having another five defenders selected in the 2017 draft, Florida will have a good chance to replicate those numbers this season.
