Question from a Husker

He's from FL but that's the only thing I've heard. I don't think he ever worked at UF.

He's from Bradenton. He has a connection to the state of Florida. He's never been employed by UF. He won't be coaching at UF next year or anytime soon either.

Ok. Thanks. Not seeing his name up here anywhere but thought I’d ask. You guys need to hurry up and sign Kelly ;).

He recruited the players at USF that Charlie Strong is coaching and he's having a very average year in his 1st at Oregon. He was born and raised south of Tampa, was a QB at Western Kentucky and was an assistant coach there for several years; then RB coach at Stanford for a couple of years, then was head coach at Western KY from 2010-2012 before becoming USF head coach from 2013-2016. His reputation is as a solid recruiter with a great offensive mind, but I don't think he's a candidate for the Florida job. At 41 a definite up & comer, but lets see how he does at Oregon for 4-5 years.

Then I’ll assume you don’t think we should go after Frost. Because technically Taggart’s resume is better and he’s younger. ijs

How is his resume better?

That's a Bogus claim imo, 41 to 42 is not a 'younger' spread imo.
As to their resume's, I'll show you Frost, and then you can show me Taggart. o_O

Scott Frost's (42 yrs old) and his total experience includes:
(some of us know, 42 is the answer to 'Life, the Universe, and Everything.') ;)

In HS -
6,859 yds and 67 TD's passing, plus 4,278 yds and 72 TD's rushing. How strong was his arm? He won a Neb. HS State Championship in the Shot Put.
05

College
Stanford QB 2 yrs (1993-1994
Nebraska QB 2 yrs - (1995 sit-out, 1996, 1997)
A letterman as a player all 4 years.
A Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Finalist in 1997.
He was a Co-NC in 1997 with a 42 - 17 Orange Bowl win over Tenn/Manning. (I like him already) :)
He played for Bill Walsh/Stanford, and Tom Osborne/Neb.

NFL - For a twist, he was drafted in the 3rd Rnd and played FS/ST's for 6 years on 4 different NFL teams.
He played for Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, and Jon Gruden.

For a college coach resume,' I'd say that he's about as 'well rounded' in experience as you could possibly ask for.

As a College coach: (16 seasons)
Neb Grad Assist 2002-05
KanSt Grad Assist 2006
N.Iowa LB'ers 2007
N.Iowa Co-DC 2008 (3rd in FBS with 40 takeaways)
Ore 2009-12 WR's -- WR's making cow-Chips offense and QB's look good.
Ore 2013-14 OC/QB's -- 3 Star Mariota's rsSo, & rsJr seasons, then NFL
How many coaches have had jobs as both an OC and a DC?

While at (post-cow-Chip) Ore, he's a 2014 Broyles Award Finalist.
So in 2015 he replaced George O'Leary as the new HC for UCF.

~ Did I mention WELL ROUNDED in his experience, as both a player and as a coach??? o_O

He inherited a win less UCF George O':Leary coached team, and in 2 short seasons he has them at 10-0 and the #15 Ranked Team, and he has the #1 Offense in the Nation averaging 51 Pts/Gm!

UCF Rivals Recruit Class Ranking
2014 #73 - 17 -- 0 - 1 - 9 - 7 ---- 2.65
2015 #63 - 18 -- 0 - 1 - 12 - 5 -- 2.67
O'Leary's last 2 classes averaged 17.5 recruits, with a #68 Ranking.
-------------
2016 #57 - 21 -- 0 - 2 - 8 - 11 -- 2.48
2017 #53 - 22 -- 0 - 1- 14 - 7 -- 2.73
Frost's first 2 classes averaged 21.5 recruits, with a #55 Ranking and improving.

3 QB's are 3 stars, 1 is a 2 star. They only have 5 that are even 4 stars on the roster.
What do you suppose Frost could do with UF's roster?

2018 UCF Current Ranking - #58 - 18 -- 0 - 1 - 10 - 7 -- 2.56
