Sometimes being involved in a team you dont see what the outsiders see. What am i missing with Norvell? He seems organized (completely different than Willie, remind me to tell you the ND willie story... My word) anyhoo, Im rly liking Norvell so far, hasnt been great at recruiting but maybe thats becuz we got throttled in damn near every game last yr. The practices we have seem organized and ran pretty well. The players seem to be making good progress. Does he suck on gameday or something? Also, the man as a 38 yr is a stone cold fox.

He will be aight. Nothing outstanding but much better than Willie(as if that's hard to do). He is a good organized dude. A little stubborn. It took him damn near two seasons to realize that the offense flows through the talented RB's he had at Memphis forcing his pet QB to be the super star he wasn't built to be. 7-4 in 2021... eventually get y'all to 8-3 type seasons.

It seems like Norvell is a master and sabotaging his own operations before they ever begin.

That is twice this summer he tells the press one thing and his players another. How long before someone like Marvin Wilson gets fed up and knocks his ass out cold with an 80 lb dumbbell?

Norvell would block the dumb bell and transition to a double leg.... 2 players whining, the rest suport the protocols

I think he does okay, FSU has not had a disciplinarian since...........when?? Fisher was an ass to players and coaches, but you can't say he was a disciplinarian. Taggert left that program in shambles, what a colossal screw up that was. Norvell has got to blow the whole thing up and start from scratch with about 50% of the players getting das boot. We won't know if he can coach for a couple of years, but let's hope so. The rivalry isn't worth a damn when either team sucks......so good luck.

At first I actually thought it was a pretty decent hire all things considered. Now I’m not so sure.

Lol, no you didn't.

You rode that gambling rumor full speed. The rumor that came out the same year he turned down a raise so he could pay his assistant coaches and the same year he purchased his lake home in the Ozarks Mountains.

Honestly I wish no Nole coach any success but I laugh at the fake news stuff.

If I remember correctly, Norvell was on a lot of fan's hiring lists when we got Mullen. Not at the top, but he was in a lot of people's Top 5-6.
When you're a coach that's a school's 5th or 6th choice, that's never a good thing. It wasn't like Cornrows was at the top 3 of any schools list for head coach during the 2019 season. Look at Jack Del Rio when he was considered a replacement for Pete Carroll at USC, there were 4 other top name coaches who turned down USC before Lane Kiffin accepted the offer.

Jeremy Fooley should have offered Dan Mullen the UF job in 2014. I guess it's better late than never.

Never understood why we went after Mac over Mullen. Ignorant move.

Cornrows was offered the Arkansas job as per rumor but he turned it down waiting on something better. If rumor is not true looks like Arkansas screwed up royally by hiring Chad Morris. Wasn't Ole Miss and Mississippi State jobs open the same timeframe? Lol at those genius hires. Matt Luke and the Penn State assist coach have since been fired.

Might have been too soon. We hadn't gotten over the Meyer mess yet.

I never got the Mac hire either. I understood the Muschamp hire, he just simply wasn't up to the task. Swing and a miss....which I think Kirby is riding down that exact same path...just a slower death. Mac neither understood the SEC pressure nor culture and what it takes to win at this level. Meyer knew, but he couldn't sustain it before it all imploded on him.

Agreed - Muschamp had the pedigree and looked to have the potential chops. He was coach in waiting at TX so they too were sold on him. The swamp donkey made no sense.

I will be honest, i thought the mac hire was extremely weird... You guys have tons of money and....butter tooth shark humper was the best you could do.... Mullen was the right choice

We will have to wait and see. Seems shakey but he's an upgrade from Willie I think, heck I could run that program better than Willie. That was a total embarrsment and I want FSU to lose every game they play. I want exciting game when we play. My first game live was at the Swamp, 91 I think, south in zone we won 14 to 9....Mathews was the QB. It was a great day and my family are insane Gator fans. My dad is 83 and he'll kick you out of the house if you're an opposing fan. No joke lol

Big step up and glad that the ACC is hanging in.

For sure, FSU definitely out did us in the dumbest hire move ever. Very UTn like.

At least Mc had a decent record at CSU, Willie had (and still has) a losing record before being hired.
Insane that FSU hired a guy that had like a hundred games in and a losing record...17 million dolor buy out.I always want to know who are the idiots who made that decision.

You never heard the story? Ok, we had stan wilcox(blk guy) who after jimbo said his main priority in finding a head coach was that the head coach was a minority. So the 2 choices we had were Willie and Strong. Willie was cheaper and Strong was at USF and had aspirations to get back to Florida.... So we hired willie. Im not joking either, stan literally said he wanted a blk head coach of football and basketball, willie was hired based on race, not performance. Stan was leaving and didnt give af.

I think most fsu fans who were logically (all 12 of us) knew willie wasnt going to work.

I’m pretty sure there’s at least two dozen of you logical Holes.

Even so you all still drank the “Willie is a master recruiter and fits the offenses to his talent” kool-aid.

Keeping in mind that the musclecramp was not a HC when he was hired by UF, McLame was a successful HC.

Before bringing ColoSt back to a 10-3 season, from 3 consecutive 3-9 seasons, McLame was Saban's OC and helped him win a NC at Bama.... o_O
That's why ColoSt hired him as their new HC.

I don't know for sure, but doesn't being OC for Bama involve pressure and knowing what it takes to win at the SEC level???

Also - the timing of Willie's hire was really bad for FSU. When Jimbo took off it was already late in the process and the coaching carousel was almost empty. That's not shot at Willer per se, it was just the timing.

But that was part of the FSU brag, if I recall. They were talking about how Willie refused to be considered for other jobs until the "right" job came along. They ate up all that stuff he was saying about how FSU was his dream job.

Really, this has been good for FSU. They didn't realize that Bowden was an anomaly. They truly believed that they were the ultimate destination for coaches, that once they got to FSU they never left, and they would all have great success, because, FSU. Then Jimbo walked out. But he had a title in hand, and TAMU offered insane money, plus he was a big jerk.

Then Willie. And Reality.

To an extent, yes. To an extent, no. With that talent Bama recruited it wasn't hard to coordinate an offense with Eddie Lacey, Trent Richardson, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, and a host of other NFL caliber players. It is pressure working for Saban. However Saban also micro manages that he takes pressures off.
