My picks:

FLORIDA: Grier
ALABAMA: Cornwell
FSU: Golson
UGA: Ramsey
OREGON: Lockie
OLE MISS: Kelly
SC: Mitch
LSU: Harris
VANDY: McCrary
LOUISVILLE: Bonaffon
OHIO ST: Barrett
OKLAHOMA: Mayfield

I've never seen a CFB season with so many battles for the starting QB position, which makes this season very interesting. Let's see who can get the most correct.

DEADLINE: this Saturday Aug. 22

Pretty much agree with all of those. Though I predict we see two QB's in our case, LSU's, OU, and UGA's.

I just hope we don't put Grier at QB and Treon at wide receiver for the first play, each guy get to play a quarter, and at halftime decide who the starter is for the rest of the year kinda crap that Muschamp pulled in 2012 against Bowling Green.

Some think Lambert will start over Ramsey at UGa

Yes, most of the guys on ESPN and SEC network think so. If that ends up being the case, that's good for us because he was barely a mediocre QB at UVA, he threw more INTs than TDs.

I wouldn't argue with that, I also believe Adams will eventually beat out Lockie at Oregon I just don't think he will start the first game.

Which is good for the rest of the SEC because he's terrible. Stiff, long release, and not very accurate. If I were Saban I'd start the true freshman, build for the future, and be done with it. Their defense and run game should be good enough to get them 9-10 wins regardless. They're going nowhere with Coker.

Yes, Coker was never very good. Jimbo over-hyped him. Just look at his film when he played. You know that at least one of those other 4 QBs on Bama's roster are good, they were all high-rated recruits, they didn't make 4 misevaluations. Cornwell has a great arm and a nasty release, and Barnett is a great athlete and may eventually move into the starting spot

Harris hits Callaway running with the ones for a touchdown on the fade. Harris got all the reps with ones.

Powell and Thompson both flashing very good speed. Offense seems to be running much quicker in general than it was before.

Interesting - just saving Grier for the closed portion I guess since he was working with the 3s mostly. Is Grier 100% being given the starting job or does he not want Grier practicing with the ones on tape today - or maybe he just wants to see Harris with the ones a little more..

Mac also mentioned that Harris has moved the #2's better than Grier did in one of the reports on Gatorsports, and the #2 offense goes against the 1st team defense. This only confirms my opinion that both QB's will start games this year. Whoever plays the best in those games will be the eventual starter.

Mitch has been named the starter for SC, Mayfield (beating out incumbent Knight) for Oklahoma

Mac doesn't seem shy, if there was clear separation I think he would say as much. Knowing that the loser of this QB battle will leave us with our incoming HS backup going into next year he has to get this right. Not surprised he's letting it play out on the field

Most reporters at practices have said that Grier looks head and shoulders above Harris.

Wouldn't doubt it. One thing to consider though is the reporters are only being given access to the first part of practices, which from what I've read is our routes against air period. So it's no surprise Grier would look better than Harris there, he's a better pure passer and they'll shine in those settings. Treon needs his legs and the ability to ad lib to open up his passing so he won't look good in a setting where neither is available.

Why does everybody assume whomever is not named the starter (I don't like the word loser) is automatically going to transfer? Are the 4 QBs that don't start at Alabama going to transfer? I noticed Harris and Jennings are both back at LSU, I didn't see one of them transfer? What about UGA? Ole Miss? FSU? SC? It doesn't always happen that the guy not named the starter to begin the season transfers, and who knows what the future holds? QBs get injured, get benched, etc., there is no guarantee that whomever starts the first game will be the starting QB at UF until there career is over.

Yep reading between the lines with the little that has been covered it sounds like Harris may have performed a little better in the practice situations that are more like true game situations.

Because Treon ia going to lose out for "not fitting the system". That and when the Canes hire RichRod he will head down there

Because UF has a history of the QB that didn't win the starting position usually leaves. I know both Doug Johnson and Jesse Palmer stuck it out. I know Gavin Dickey stuck it out and changed positions. As did CI(with much counseling) Trey Burton, and Jordan Reed, but UF usually loses the touted recruited QB to transfers when that said QB doesn't get the starting nod.
Eric Kessler
Brock Berlin
Ingle Martin
Josh Portis
Cam Newton (laptop gate played a part)
Jacoby Brissett
This is just a top of the head list, I am sure more QB's have transferred. Tyler Murphy being another.

I mean even add Driskel to the list, he saw the writing on the wall.

What system? I think that's the big unknown because Mac has been an uptempo spread guy everywhere but Bama. Also, if Treon doesn't fit the system then neither does Grier. I'm not sure why people are under the assumption that Grier is a tailor made prostyle guy, based on what his height? He was a spread guy in HS and ran and ad libbed more than Treon, they are both spread QB's.

Looking at that spring game and knowing the status of our O line I think we will not run things too much under center. I thought he might transistion us the first year like he did at CSU from under center mostly to almost all shotgun but looking back at our spring game he might be showing that won't be the case. We ran shotgun in that spring game overwhelmingly.

Sounding even more like McElwain won't announce a starter prior to the opening game and may see how things play out according to practice quotes today.

Yea we won't have a choice I'd think. Our best bet at generating yards on the ground might be through the read option game. The good thing is that both QB's can run it.

Because as we all recognize the QB can make the difference between laughingstock and less of a laughingstock. Likewise, the size of audiences in metropolitan Alachua County.
