Prayers to him and his family. It doesn’t sound good and he’s fighting for his life. Terrible news.

Here's a link from the Jackson MS newspaper:

It doesn't sound good at all.... Some posters on the UK board are saying that he's being kept alive for some of his family members to make it in to say their final goodbyes.... :(:(:(:(:(

Leach was OC at UK when Hal Mumme was HC and Tim Couch was our QB. He is fondly remembered by much of our fan base, and there were calls in the past to hire him as HC during some of our many vacancies over the years.

If he has suffered massive brain damage its probably best if he passes on.

Here's a Twitter link from one of our posters.....

Very sad to hear. He will always be one my all time favorite coaches. Even when he was WSU, I always tried to get in on his press conferences because to me, most of his pressers were something you did not want to miss.

It's extremely sad because college football will never be the same without Mike Leach.

This is awful, awful news, and just days away from Christmas....my goodness....

He's been an a cult legend for my entire adult life it seems like. The only coach to have that same Spurrier attitude (much more quirky though).

So sudden....sheesh.

Now, on a different note....if Dan Mullen is named their HC, then I fully support any conspiracy theories that claim he had a role in this happening.

He’s got a pretty incredible tree of former coordinators and qbs who are running that air raid. I always thought of air raid as the fun n gun but out of the shotgun and more wide than vertical. Kind of a roster equalizer because you don’t need the big time receivers to make plays down the field.

Funny guy. The clip of him giving wedding advice to one of the beat writers is an all-timer.

Leach and Mumme on the UK sideline.... Probably 1997-98 timeframe I'm guessing.

And less running than the Fun N Gun.

If I recall correctly, though it might be inaccurate, he wasn't noticed having a heart attack immediantly and that they had to use paddles to bring him back. That would be an interesting thing to consider because it would mean a lack of oxygen to his brain....and a lack of a constant supply could cause brain damage.

Every second counts.

My dad had seizures for most of his life. One night he was having one in his bed right in front of my mom and I. We held him down like usual (because he would often try to walk around....and could fall). My mom noticed he stopped breathing and she started cpr. The amount of time between him stopping breathing and her noticing was probably less than 15 seconds.

He kept being brought back with shock paddles by the EMTs. Although the doctor said they would have to run more tests in the morning(it was like 10pm) he was concerned about possible brain damage and believed my dad had a heart attack in the middle of the seizure. When the tests were completed, there was not any brain activity.

I don't mean to take attention away from leach, but whenever someone passes from a heart attack it strikes a certain chord.

I do hope his family finds some peace and his players reflect on this in way that is life-long.

If it was “the widowmaker” event - left ventricular - it’s almost always a fatal outcome.
It took my husband at 56. Non-smoker, pretty fit, not a boozer, no cholesterol or high blood pressure issues, but there one minute and gone the next.
If you had asked him if he’d choose that or go at 90 in a wheelchair wearing a Depends and not knowing his name he’d have chosen to go out as he did. I bet Mike Leach would’ve said the same.
I hope every angel in heaven was there to welcome his soul. What a character he was.

Prayers to his family. Horrible news on top of horrible news. Just in the last month Coy Gibbs, son of Joe Gibbs dies at 49. Grant Wahl one of the top soccer journalists in the sport just drops dead at 48 while covering the World Cup. I had 2 neighbors collapse with heart attacks. One is dead one is still in the hospital. One was 58 and the other 65. Way to young and so is Coach Leach. Unfortunately, this is going to continue as there was no reason at all for these deaths as most of them were fairly healthy. Good luck to everyone who trusted in science.

Sorry for your loss and appreciate your outlook on things. I’d choose the same. I just want to go to sleep one night and never wake up.

Another slap in the face to make us all realize the importance of making the most of each day because we never know how many more we have left. Every day is a gift to be shared because none of us is guaranteed a tomorrow - at least in this life.
Wise words that are easy to say…but hard to live by…

Things like this make sadgator try really hard to appreciate life everyday, not get so worked up about nonsense, and to be friendly and kind to all…

but sometimes sadgator forgets…

Im glad for Dillion Johnson's tweet. I know that days before this went down there was some sort of normal player turmoil between him and Leach(the usual player leaving and the coach not thinking hes a good fit situation)......

....but he posted a tweet that was personal, not copy and paste, and seemed sincere.

Hope the young man does well in life.

I know we had our different opinions on things, and I know we didn’t see eye to eye on things but we are family and sometimes familys have disagreements it’s apart life, I’m Sorry this happened to you Coach Leach I love you bro keep swinging that sword my guy ❤️🕊"

If you talking about what I think you are talking about they don't actually freeze you but lower your core body temp by a lot to prevent damage to your brain and organs from scavenging free radicals.

Yes, that's more so what I meant. Not sure if they tried that on Leach or not. Sad day for cfb. Loved that dude
