Someone help me feel good about program's future. We are moving into year 3 and this is what I think I know:
• we hired a QB whisperer and have gone backwards. In fact most programs in SEC have their QB for next 2 years in place
• program is at '88 levels for excitement but we had Emmitt at least
• defense most assuredly will pull back as playmakers move on this year
• depth chart is full of "we know better than pundits and we'll show you" talent
• no one on this staff is exciting to anyone but this staff. They are the college football equivalent of Hasselhoff - they love him in Germany

I'll start
• ST should be better - Townsend is solid and kicker has a year under his belt.
• I heard Pride of the Sunshine has a killer floutist coming in.

I'm almost sure that michi, numbers, and ooozzzzie will fill you in on how truly bad everything Gator is right now, so I'll just step out of this thread to make-way for them, and/or a couple of others... ;)

You can't hold the first two years against Mac, QB-wise. He had exactly one decent QB, and was just starting to get production out of him, when we lost him. After that, it's been the three stooges. Next year, he has two of his own recruits to choose from, both with a year in the system. The oline has almost everybody coming back, a couple of good RB's and a couple of good WR's. We lose a ton on defense, but is that really all bad? Those guys couldn't stay healthy anyway. I could live with a slightly less talented defense that can avoid spending the season living in the training room.

But the defense WILL be less talented next year, and if the offense is the same shitpile, it's going to be a long season. If that happens, the new AD is going to need to start visiting the deep pocket alum, because the only thing at that point that is going to resurrect this program is a big-time hire and an Alabama-style commitment to bringing in quality coaching and lots of it. Chip Kelly at 10 mil a year and another 10 mil for paying for top assistants and also for hiring a huge coaching staff, that's what it would take.

We are seriously in jeopardy of falling back to the Gators of old, where we had good coaches, but not great, and good players, but not great, and could come close to winning an SEC title, but never quite get there. If Mac is the guy, then great, if not, we need a slam dunk next time, a hire that gets the whole country talking about UF again.

UF is never spending anything close to bama money on football, and that's why we will keep getting emabarrassed by them and all the players they can snag over us

Which is why I say that is the thing we need to change.
