I know some of you on this board have a degree in law. I recently brought a house and I have some other financial assets but I am by no means rich. Someone recommended to me recently that I should probably look into getting a will written even though I am young because I take some strong medication for arthritis that increases my risk for certain diseases. I am single so I was curious if anyone could answer what happens to my finances if I am single and something should happen to me.

If you die, you won't need money any more.

True to his well-deserved reputation for shoddy work, mcanes's answer is incomplete. The truth of the matter is that In addition to Google, many lawyers also resort to Bing, Yahoo, and a myriad of other search engines.

depends upon the intestate laws in the state in which you reside.....gotta start at the applicable jurisdiction. State intestate laws are different

You do indeed want an estate plan. You do not want the disposition of your assets being decided by a probate judge. Probate law can be vastly different in each state. I have lived in three different states and in each one, modified my estate plan after we moved.
