Oregon got out-coached, no doubt, but give some credit to Meyer for forcing them into the schemes they used. You make it sound as if a different formation wins the game for the Ducks, but looked to me like they were getting pushed around all night on both sides of the ball. The biggest problem for Ducks was they could never get their offense going, and that killed them.
No you are 100% correct. Games are still won in the trenches. Ohio State pushed Oregon around all over the football field. That is Meyer's style and Mickey Marotti's S&C program. We've seen it first hand ourselves.
It's a pretty big stretch to claim that Ohio State did something to "force" Oregon to run a three man front all night.
Ohio State was running at will because there were rarely more than 5 guys in the box. They could have never attempted a pass and it seemed like Oregon was insistent upon running that scheme, despite how ineffective it was.
