oh shit............ I just hope the team and Mullen take the game more seriously than Chump took the Georgia Southern game. This really sucks. Screw padding the record, wish we were playing a real game.:(

Serious question.

VA is pretty weak but can generate some offense when that QB is able to run around some. Would much rather be playing Baylor.

Gotta disagree. Baylor has no more pedigree or national interest than Virginia. I'd have loved to get the Domers in the O Bowl, we would have gotten ALL the press. That would have been worth more than the bigger chance of losing, because ND is a better team than UVa. But if we are going to play a game that will be nationally ignored, then at least we can slap the crap out of somebody so we look good. So there would be no upside to playing Baylor and maybe losing vs an almost sure win vs UVa.

And don't give me that "Baylor is in the top 10." I don't care. They are still a NOBODY. If it was Oklahoma, that would be different. Or Texas. A name team.

Was disappointed that the CFP poll has us 9th when we are 6/7 in the other polls. But, 5 plays 7 and 6 plays 8, if we beat UVa we should pass the two losers and jump up to 7. That's our ceiling, unless LSU beats Okie by 50 and we somehow slide past them. Don't see that happening, though.

Just saw we are playing Virginia. Unless we turn it over 4 times we win by 20. We will stomp the crap out of them. WTF puts these games together? It's a rhetorical question. 11-2 this year.

The bowls have gone too egalitarian.

In the old days, the #2 ACC team would play the #5 SEC team so that there would be some balance. Of course, this year, it would be Tennessee, I think they are the #8 SEC team. ACC not good.

The Orange Bowl was stuck with Virginia. We were the best option for butts in seats.

They are not as bad as some of their games may indicate. Their QB is very mobile and can give teams fits. On D they have been up and down. We will need to play well to win. Hopefully the guys show up ready to go. Need to keep the momentum going....

You just never know how players and coaches are going to feel, care and prepare for a bowl game when they're not in the playoffs. Or which players will choose to sit out for fear of getting hurt before the NFL draft. I think this year's gator team will be fired up to play and will give a good accounting. The ACC, except for Clemson, was horrible this year and we should win the game. The SEC has an excellent chance to run the table in the bowl games, but there are always upsets. Always fun to watch and see what happens. Gooo Gators!

Rooting for Baylor. Just sayin'.

Agree - Just like with FSU & Tennessee, I always pull for whoever is playing Georgia.

I get that, but I feel a little differently about Tennessee.

UGa is the epitome of evil, 0-12 is too good for them. FSU is the junior epitome of evil, 0-12 is the preference, but would root for them against UGa.

Tennessee is that retarded cousin who keeps challenging you to play football in the back yard, and you start to feel bad after beating them for the 100th time in a row. Not bad enough to let them win one, but still a little bad.

If they had their pick it would be Penn State or someone else from up North instead of us that has to travel and will bring fans. The new system takes that choice away from them mostly.

I am kind of surprised many bowls except the Rose keep auto bids now when the conference champions are in the playoff however.

After the 1st 4, the CFP Poll is a poor joke. o_O

Top 15 in the Coaches Poll - 12-8-19

(CFP if different from Coaches)

1. LSU
2. tOSU
3. CU
4. OK
----------
5. UGA
6. ORE -- (11-2 Ore -6 vs AU -- 10-2 UF +11 vs AU -- Ore lost to NR AzSt)
7. UF-- (9-cfp, so I'm calling BS)
8. BAY-- (7)
9. UA -- (13)
10.UT -- (11)
11. WIS -- (8)
12. PSU -- (10)
13. AU -- (12)
14. ND -- (15) -- (14, Mich)
15. MEM -- (Not in CFP Top 15)

JMOHO of course, but the CFP Ranking is $$$ bent for bowl assignments.
It is obvious to me that it's not based on actual team quality, (W/L vs SoS).

CFP - Utah drops from 5. to 11, while UGA drops from 4 to 5... WTF???
5. to 11. Utah 16 - 37 Ore
4. to 5. UGA 10 - 37 LSU
7. to 7. Bay 23 - 30 OK in OT
8. to 8. Wis 21 - 36 tOSU
9. UF with only losses to #1 LSU and #5 UGA

For now and in the future, the CFP rankings are only valid for the Playoff Top 4.
After that, they are a joke,,, so I'll be going by the Coaches and then the AP.

PS
Va is in the Orange Bowl by ACC Contract, not by team quality or ranking.
Va is not in any polls Top 15 rankings, just a distant #2 in ACC behind CFP CU.

I see it as a TRAP game for the Gators.
It's a lot like fist fighting a girl.
You get no credit if you win, but you get blasted by all if you lose...
If VA could win, it would MAKE their season, so they will go ALL-OUT to win. o_O
Gator's better come ,,, and ready to play....

Your 2015, IMO, looked more like our 2009. I'm still puzzled how we finished 11-2 in 2012.
I’m talking strictly Bowl game results though. Big name brand knocked around by an upstart in embarrassing fashion. Whereas we win and it’s just par for the course.

Look no further than 2015 for us and 2012 for you.

Yep they need to do away with the automatic tie-ins. Of course the conferences would never agree to it because they lose that automatic payout. You take Virginia and if bowls was being picked on merit there’s no way they get a NY6 bid but because the Orange Bowl has to take an ACC team you get a 4-loss team in a major bowl.

Last year Mich thought they should have been ranked higher, and did not think that UF should be in a bowl against them. Result -- UF 41 - 15 Mich.

Now, let's just hope that the Gator TEAM (coaches & players), don't let the same thing happen to them...

Not familiar at all how it works but was wishing for Penn State or Notre Dame.......... Don't think they can overcome that last game against Clemson but I just don't see us fired up for them. Hope I'm wrong.

Virginia is a fine team. We need to kick their asses.

Dan will have them prepared and focused. And to a certain extent excited to play in the Orange Bowl. But fired up like an SEC or rivalry game? He's not a miracle worker.

But the fans can be fired up for the game. Everybody has their own reasons to be excited. As an example, my boss is fired up because she graduated from both schools.

We'll be ready to go...that's how it's been....that's the culture again.

Interesting to be “fired up” about a meaningless game with the cavaliers, but ok...

To finish an 11 win season vs a Top 25 Team in a NY-6 Bowl is not meaningless. o_O

Your 'wet-blanket' comment on a 'fired up' post is what's meaningless,,, and sad....

If my Gators beat VA in the Orange...
And if UGly loses to Baylor in the Sugar...
Resulting in 11-2 UF being ranked ahead of 11-3 UGly again in the final poll...
Then this will be a 'very successful' 2nd season for Dan imoho, despite the 2 losses.... o_O
(it's already a successful 2nd 10 win season)

Anyone HUNGRY??? ;)

VA 30 - 14 @ Pitt

(@ PSU 17 - 10 Pitt >>> Pitt beat N.C.)
Food for thought for those wishing UF was playing PSU

VA 38 - 31 @ N.C.
(Clem 21 - 20 N.C.)

VA 39 - 30 VaTech
(@ ND 21 - 20 VaTech)
Food for thought for those wishing UF was playing Neutered Lame

VA 31 - 24 FSUcks
(UF 40 - 17 FSUcks)

VA's 4 losses:
VA 20 - 35 @ ND
VA 9 - 17 @ Mia
VA 21 - 28 @ UL
VA 17 - 62 Clem - @ Neutral Charlotte, NC

Anyone taking VA lightly is just asking to finish like the meatchicken's did last year....

Agree 100 percent. We're not Clemson. If we don't play well, we'll be in a fight. And if we cruise to an OB win, I can think of worse things.

I remember having a pretty good time at Spurrier's destruction of MD in the OB.
