I have seen Dameon Pierce practice a few times and play twice the last three years. I will say this first — he looks the part.

Here is a pic I took in May of him at practice.

He was sporting FSU gloves, and there was talk down there then that the Noles may be the favorite. It came down to Florida and Auburn based on what I have heard the past month or so.

Pierce was at one time committed to Alabama, but they had a mutual break-up.

As a person, Pierce is VERY quiet and reserved. Even on the field, he does not say much. He is a lead by example kid. As you can tell, he does not do much media at all — never has. Just doesn't like the questions and all that.

He is very respected and liked by coaches and peers. He works hard, he is accountable and he is a good kid.

On the field, Pierce is tough. He is a physical runner who will dip that shoulder and work hard for that extra yard or two. What he does best is run with power and balance. He can bounce off that tackle if he is not completely wrapped up. He is a strong north-south kid. There is not the elite speed guy and there is not a lot of wiggle in his game, but he gets up the field, he runs hard and he has great balance.

Vision is another strength I would say. He lets the holes open, he can set up his blocks and he has been used often on screen passes.

He has been very productive as well. He has over 4600 yards in his career with over 700 carries. His biggest year was his sophomore year, where he had 2060 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Overall, this is a very good get for the Gators. Great kid, productive runner with power and balance and someone who's known for producing when given the ball.
