Well, the other is option is Kiffin.... Or Bob if we want
What happened to Mark Stoops, Matt Campbell, Matt Rhule and even Bronco Mendenhall from the ACC. Instead dip down into the non-P5 ranks and grab a guy that has had 1 real impressive season out of 4. Real head scratcher to me.

Big Game Bob could not win the big games. Is this another setup for noles to be let down? I would think it would be in the news by now, no?

They apparently went from Bob Stoops to Mike Norvell. Quite a fall down the ladder if I must say

Franklin was the closest but we apparently low balled him

Florida State University revealed Thursday that it is paying DHR International $100,000 plus expenses to conduct its search for a new head football coach

Bob was my #1 preference....Franklin #2. Norvell is a clear upgrade over Willie, but a risk none-the-less.
Bob Bowden was always my #1 as well for FSU. He's only a sprightly 90 this year and still living in the same house he has had all those years he was coaching at FSU during his first tenure as head coach.

We actually did something right. 100k is an excellent price for this

Bob apparently wants nothing to do with cfb, he hates that there is no offseason. Franklin likes penn state and is going to be making north of 6 million with his new contract. Why would he leave?

Fsu interviewed 10+ coaches, interviewed 2 NFL coaches, one current HC and one former NFL head coach. They also "talked" with about 5 to 10 others and vetted more than 25 for the job. Norvell is the best available to leave his current job this yr and step in at fsu. He comes with risk, of course. I think MOST coaches do

Yeah not really a splash hire out there for FSU.

In all honesty, hes 59 and doesnt want to recruit and grind. Norvell is eager. I dont know how it will turn out
Taggart was eager too. Just sayin’. Although I doubt he’s as bad a Taggart. That would be hard to do.

True. Im hoping hes our Mullen, ya know. Chip Kelly was a splash hire by UCLA and that turned out horrible. Mullen wasnt considered splash but damn the man knows football. I feel like Norvell knows football but needs to hire a d coordinator who rly knows what hes doing.

Craigslist might have been more effective and it is cheaper...

I work for an engineering firm who uses search firms like this. You dont understand how much they do and what they do. They are HIGHLY effective and this was cheap. Our company pays roughly 40k for a search firm and we are an engineering company.... Not a university

Mullen already had serious ties to our school and a proven track record here. Norvell is young and has done good at Memphis, but that is a big leap you are asking and with few ties to your conference or the State of Fl. Big difference...

Mullen wasn’t a splash hire but he still created a good amount of buzz. People knew he could coach, had power 5 head coaching experience, had previous ties to UF and knows what it takes to win national titles as he’s been there before.
Norvell I think is a good coach but really only has 1 really good year at Memphis (this year). He really hasn’t had big boy football experience in his coaching career even as an assistant. Risky hire IMO but can’t be worse than Taggart.

It doesn’t help that your fan base was convinced it was Bob Stoops. It’s quite a drop from Stoops to Norvell.

Ok but you needed to spend $100K just to end up hiring Mike Norvell??

Did Norvell need a job description created by headhunters???? We could have helped with that AND at NO CHARGE!

I see ways he can be good and be terrible. Wont form an opinion yet. From all accounts, he can coach but we will see.

Its not just for hiring purposes. There is A LOT that goes into it. 100k is cheap af and well worth every penny
I would agree if you were making a big time splash hire and I get everything that goes into it but the ultimate/final objective is to make a hire though.

Yeah well I'm pretty sure a search firm wasn't used last time so that's reason enough to use one.
