Things are going to have to settle down on this OL and things will get better, but lets take a step back and acknowledge that OL was a strength last year, and what we saw last night isn't close to our 2 deep OL. People forget we lost EIGHT OL since last season. I fully believe we make room with guys who don't contribute much or push others along the OL, we get 2 very good OL in the portal(trimming from the bottom and adding to the top), get some guys back from injuries and what not and down the stretch in fall camp it looks much better. I think 2 tackles means 1 is a short timer starting RT, and the other will be a younger/long term OT to push that starter or Barber at the LT spot. This gives Goodwin time to grow at OT(easy to forget he is a true soph who Stoops burned a redshirt for, playing mostly/only special teams last year), and might push George inside temporarily.
We have 16 scholarship OL on the roster(Caden Jones is not yet enrolled). The 2 that @bblake08 mentioned might be leaving obviously didn't play much if any at all. Now you're left with 14 OL. Four OL were out/DNP due to injuries/etc, Waites, Mazz, Kingsley, and Farmer. Now you are left with 10 scholarship OL. Ten scholarship OL only allows you a 1-deep of 2 teams so playing walk-ons and true freshman(Harris, Kearney, and Lovett) was a must.
That leaves last nights OL looking like this:
