Ok, we have shown we can overcome adversity. We have shown we can play clutch when needed to win a ballgame. We have shown we can climb up on a team and dominate them.

But what we need to do now is show that we can put a big win behind us and not go on the road, play flat, and lay an egg. Losing to Mizzou undoes all the good of this win, and in fact, is worse than us losing to Ole Miss and beating Mizzou. It gives them the chance to run the table and lock us out in the tiebreaker. But beating Mizzou puts us 4-0 in conference and all but guarantees the WLOCP is for the East.

our defense is playing good enough now to keep it going, Collins finally called a much better game.

Truth! Mizzou is a must win game. Their slate is easier than ours so we can't have a loss to them.

QB Will Grier rsFr
Passing 24 of 29 (82.8%) for 271 yds, 11.3 yds/comp, 4 TD's, zero Ints. And 4 different Gators caught a TD pass.

The Rebels, who came into the game averaging 543 yards and 54 points per game; they finished with only 328 yards and 10 points tonight. (Gator's been sand-baggin' ???)

The Gators also sacked QB Chad Kelly, the SEC's top-rated passer, 4 times and forced 3 turnovers on the night, while giving up none of their own.

Next up for the SECe Leading Gators is @ Mizzou 4-1, 1-1 SEC.

We win next week, we are bowl eligible.

And unlike 2012, there's legitimate reasons to be excited.

Yep even if we do come down a little and lose a couple of games this season has me much more excited than 2012 did because of the offense coming around even with the young O line.

I believe the real test is not so much our opponents, it's the fact that 4 of our first 5 games were in the comfort of staying at home. That one road game was at UK and we hung on for dear life to run the clock out in that win. Well now we go on the road to Missouri, then to LSU, then a week off before going to pick a fight with those recently neutered bulldogs from athens. That's a whole month that our team doesn't have the luxury of the home field and home crowd advantage. And make no mistake, The Swamp WAS a big advantage last night in disrupting that Ole Miss offense. That was as loud as I've seen the stadium in any years and it remained that way from start to finish.

This I believe is our true test, we've shown we can win at home, now we have a month away from that and we need to see how we handle these next 3 games. I just looked on our parking pass and we only have 3 games left at home, Vandy, FAU, and FSU. The season is going by faster than it has in years.

Would love to see another fast start this coming Saturday at Mizzou! Quiet the home crowd early.

I am a firm believer that it is much harder for college teams to handle success than adversity. It will be very interesting to see how Florida plays @Missouri on Saturday.

This really IS the issue. We had a great first game over an overmatched opponent and then looked like crap against a respectable ECU team. I say respectable in the sense this ECU team has given P5 programs fits over the last few years. Then came the struggles against UK and UT. Both wins, but not confident inspiring wins.

Now this team comes out and essential click on all phases of the game. Well, myabe not the whole of special teams, but even that was not too bad. Our new FG kicker was 2 for 2 on FG.

Now how do they handle success. The Mizzou defense will be either be the best or second best we face all season. They are ranked at or near the top of the SEC in most categories.

It will be interesting to watch.

Agree. Well put.

Need to stay focused and not get too over confident. I like what I see so far. But still have a lot of games to go.

True for the team, but as a fan, I enjoy being overconfident. It's beats worrying about possibly losing a game. Optimism makes every game enjoyable to me.

This. Coffee pot discussions are much better when my chest is puffed out.

Well that's why its a good thing that defense travels on the road and shuts the fans up.

The way that we play this week is going to tell us a lot about how the rest of this season will go.
I am not sure I agree with that. This team will probably be a bit inconsistent, given the youth, particularly at QB on the the OL.

For every game like Ole Miss they play, and I hope there are several more, there will probably also be a few UK kinds of game.

The favorable home schedule was the perfect recipe for a young, inexperienced team to not only to get used to college football and playing in SEC games but to also to get used to a new system under a new Coach. The Swamp was a big advantage for Florida to get out to an unexpected 5-0 start. The East Carolina team was a good challenge for the whole team to fight for a win - it was nearly an overtime game if not for that late fumble.

With three SEC games under his belt, hopefully, Grier will settle down now and just execute Coach McElwain's offensive system. Against UK (1st road game), Grier kind of panicked and took off running instead of just checking down on a play or letting the play develop properly.

Finally, with so many road games coming up, the team will need to go back to the silent count and communicating plays with hand signals again. It will be difficult to audible on the road for such a green quarterback/team. The defense should be a strength again, especially on the road.

Next up for the SECe Leading Gators is @ Mizzou 4-1, 1-1 SEC.

Don't forget, Kentucky is also 2-1 and for now an SEC-E contender along with Georgia, Mizzou and UF. Florida enjoys that tie-breaker advantage over the wildcats. It's nice that UK could get a road win over Missouri and UF (3-0) is the only undefeated team left in the SEC-E. Both UK (2-1) & Mizzou (2-1) have already defeated South Carolina (0-3).

It gives me a little bit more confidence that Kentucky already defeated Missouri on the road. Florida could perhaps use a similar game plan like UK's to win this next game. Our defense needs to bottle up Missouri's spread attack: stuff their running game and go after their quarterback. Our DB's will need to control their big receivers again just like Ole Miss' big receivers. Florida will have to stop their zone-read plays between their QB/RB, defend the bubble screens to wide-outs and running backs, and be wary of guarding Mizzou's TE's in the passing game. This was something UF had difficulty in their games: i.e, difficulty in defending the TE from E.Carolina/Ole Miss. That's what allowed those teams to keep their drives alive.

On offense, Florida needs to protect the football first. Don't give the game away like in the last two times UF played Missouri. Missouri has an opportunistic defense. Hopefully with Ivey added to the unit, the Florida offensive line can open up some holes and establish a good running attack with Kelvin Taylor & co. That should make the game easier for Florida. Missouri also has a very good defensive line that is good at pressuring the QB . It will be interesting to see if UF's OLine is up to the task of protecting their QB like in their last game against Ole Miss.

Against Missouri, it should be a tight ball game at first. Hopefully, Florida can score early & first and slowly pull away to win this game like their last ball game. Otherwise, it could be another thrilling finish like the Tennesse game!

I say that because IMO I think if we play a solid game and get a solid win buy 7-10 points then I think that we have a team that is going to play more consistently like we have for the last 5 quarters...if not then I think that we'll be up and down still like we were in a few of our games. Either way I'll be happy with any win.
