I worked in IT for over 25 years at large companies and we were absolutely laying off Americans and replacing them with lower cost people from India.

They are in IT and programming. The crooked businesses even practically force the workers they are going to get rid of to train their H1B replacements. This has been shown when they they looked into what these businesses were actually doing.

I don't understand why Musk is defending the system. The employer (and their customer base) take in the shorts, the recruiters for contract labor pools are the ones making bank from this.

Don't have numbers on his companies but my guess is Elon is benefitting from it also he thinks. Either by getting lower wages or by having employees that are scared to lose their status to gaining US citizenship eventually. His argument about brain draining is total nonsense as true critical brain draining would be accomplished with way less of these Visas. All you have to do is look around at people getting let go at tech jobs and see the companies then later hiring these H1Bs. There are even loopholes that allow them to have the people being replaced to train the Visa holders if they want any severance pay.

The crooks claiming this stuff isn't mainly used for that are the same as the crooks that told us that our US Uranium operation being sold to a Russian company wouldn't allow export out of North America when they knew their was a loophole that if the shipping place wasn't that company it could be exported like that and sure enough quite a bit of it is shipped overseas.

President Trump has endorsed Speaker Johnson and I don't know what to think of that. Johnson has signed off on billions of wasted dollars in Ukraine. I hope the President has told Johnson to back off and cut it out with the crazy spending. Johnson absolutely caved in to the Democrats and that has to change.

I think Trump has to deal with reality sometimes and thinks Johnson is the least dangerous choice out of the true realistic alternatives now. As far as Ukraine the outgoing administration did everything they could to make a mess. I think Trump's preferred action would just be to cut Ukraine off to end things faster but political considerations won't allow him to do that right away. Not sure where negotiations go but Russia isn't giving up that Donbass area they took that we pushed western Ukraine to shell for years. Ukraine is in no position to get much in the way of concessions from Russia considering the shape they are in with this conflict. I think Zelensky will eventually be forced out of Ukraine to some area in the west to spend all the crooked money he has gained since taking over.

Not a fan of minimum wage laws but the H1B should have a very high minimum salary to be used. Maybe start with $150K and index for inflation. If a company really needs the employee they will pay it. If its about lowering wages then they will pass.
