Mullen didn’t start all of that nonsense.
You do have to keep your cool though.

Maybe the refs or the player that put the late hit on Trask? Players were already shoving by the time Mullen went after the refs. Mullen maybe didn’t help matters but he didn’t start it.

It was a late hit. Should have gotten UF another play. But when Mullen ran out there screaming and flailing around that upped things and we got what we saw as a result.

I will agree with the idea that he unintentionally intensified the situation.

Coaches do that all the time and teams don't clear the bench. You're making it a bigger deal that what it is. Players and coaches that were apart of it will have fines and some were kicked out of the game. It's over.

I’m not making it a big deal. I’m telling you how it is. And the talk all over sports shows today is whether or not he should get suspended.

Yeah I listen to sports commentators and lots of times they are wrong with their big opinions. It's the main reason I can't even stomach ESPN/Sports Center. Thanks for telling me how it is though...I'll put that one in my hat considering the consistent way that the NCAA rules on things and governs.

Who originated the almost brawl at the end of the 1st half?\

" All while a flag for a late hit was never thrown."

Put the blame where it belongs, who's on first? 🤓

The always incompetent / corrupt SEC game officials are most at fault imoho.

Had the officials been in control of the game it would have never happened.

THE NO-CALL BY THE OFFICIALS ON HITTING TRASK IS WHAT SET IT OFF. 🤬

So, if any suspensions come down, then it should begin with the suspensions of the SEC game officials.

Otherwise, call it over now, and just move on. 😏

A couple have said he should be, most are saying uts something that should be looked at along with everything else. It’s nit going to happen so I’m not gonna put any energy into it. Just watching it happen last night I saw him as a contributor to the escalation.

Fair enough...things certainly got out of hand and Mullen on the field didn't help.

I just found this, if anyone needs a 2nd opinion about what happened....

It was the officials that were the real problem with the skirmish at the end of the first half that caused Florida starting defensive lineman Zachary Carter to miss the second half and who knows what part of next week’s game with Georgia. There was no flag thrown on a blatant late hit call as the benches were ready to empty for the half. A (game officials caused) recipe for disaster.

It wasnt that bad of a late hit tho, shouldnt have caused a brawl.

I think that folks from the radio and tv shows want to make up a story, then they want to all gang up on Mullen and try to get some type of punishment on him so they can feel like they have some power, were part of the deal. “Look what I did.”

No different than any of the other news folks.

These are all kids and they are all fired up. Plus they’re having to deal with all this virus stuff.

Who did If he didn’t?
That’s a silly question. Just like any other coach, he wanted answers from the referees.
Some players started jawing and shoving.
I declare, some folks have done everything but say that Mullen threw the first punch.

Like I said, he has to keep his cool though.
Coming back out of the tunnel to fire everyone up probably wasn’t the best thing to do in that situation, but Mullen is a bit different sometimes.

But the brawl wasn't with the refs.

Yes he was yelling at the refs and not the players.

I think he was more worried with screaming at the refs then stopping his players. No way he didnt see what was happening. As i said, pushing and shoving never hurt anybody but its odd to see Mullen just screaming irately at the refs as his team is brawling......

The idea that he went out there to stop the fight is a false narrative. When he went out there, there was no fight. But if you watch it, it went from jawing to a full brawl in about 4 seconds. When he realized what was happening, he moved to stop it but somebody grabbed him and held him out of it.

There is a lot of false shock and anger from the haters. LSU, USC, UT, all calling us classless and claiming that when there is a brawl UF is a part of it, talking about Vandy in 2018. Which is hilarious, because Vandy in 2018 their whole team came to our sideline, including the coach, but it was just words, no physical altercation whatsoever. I mean, Vandy? They don't even have the cojones for a fight. Yelling from a distance, that's their style.

But back to this case, there are, in particular, lots of Dawgs on Twitter hoping to get the SEC to gut our team for their game to give them a better shot at winning. Based on what I'm seeing, they must be pretty worried.

I do not agree with this. This was not a guy coming around the side, who is tied up with a blocker. He was coming dead on at the QB, he could see the ball was gone and the QB was looking downfield at the play. It was a dirty hit, right up at the head/neck area.

And it was clearly targeting. No question. The QB is considered a defenseless player after throwing the ball, and he hit him with forcible contact in the head/neck area. It doesn't need to be with the helmet when the player is defenseless.

If the SEC comes back and says "no further action", I'm ok with leaving it at that. But if they come back with anything else for anybody, then that guy needs to have a targeting rung up and miss the next game. If targeting can be called after the fact like that. I don't actually know if it can.

It was a late hit. But if you watch enough games, that happens a lot after you hold the ball four seconds or so. Trask is a tough kid. It made everybody mad - but didnt seem to affect him. Mullen can argue with the refs, but he cant let something like that cause a whole uproar that takes any more focus off the game. You got to win this game and get focused on the next. What if something happened where four of five of our starters got benched the next game?

Look at that Chicago game yesterday. One player went crazy and caused the whole team to go down.
As Troy Aikman said you got to play "smart football."

Hey, BFF!

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida head coach Dan Mullen has been fined $25,000 and two players will be suspended for the fight between Florida and Missouri just prior to halftime on Saturday night. Both benches cleared following a questionable late hit on UF quarterback Kyle Trask on the final play of the half, leading to several punches thrown and a large scuffle that took several minutes to untangle.

Starting defensive end Zachary Carter and reserve defensive lineman Antwaun Powell will both be suspended for the first half of the Georgia game on Saturday. Both were ejected from the Missouri game for their roles in the fight.

The league reprimanded Mullen and handed down those suspensions on Monday afternoon.

“There is no place in college football for the kind of incident that took place at halftime of the Missouri at Florida game Saturday night," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said. "Everyone involved is responsible for meeting sportsmanship standards throughout each game. Running on the field to confront a game official, the gathering of teams in an on-field confrontation and student-athletes throwing punches are all disappointing at any time, but even more so as we work to support healthy competition during a pandemic.”

Missouri had three players suspended for the first half of its game against Georgia on Nov. 14 as a result of video review of the fight: linebacker Chad Bailey, offensive lineman Dylan Spencer and defensive lineman Markell Utsey.

The fight broke out following an untimed down just before the half. As Trask stepped into a deep throw to the end zone intended for Kyle Pitts, he was blasted by Missouri defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat. The scuffle didn't break out immediately but escalated as Mullen raced to the field to confront the officials following several questionable calls in the first half.

As he arrived, players from both benches gathered and a shouting match ensued. Carter and Bailey both threw punches at each other before officials were finally able to separate the two teams and get things under control.

"I respect the decision from the conference office," Mullen said in a statement released by a team writer. "As the head coach, it is my responsibility to defuse these types of situations, and I didn’t live up to that standard."

The second half unfolded cleanly, something Mullen pointed to after the fact as evidence the issue was handled well after the initial dust-up.

"I’ll tell you this: I give our coaches and our players a lot of credit," Mullen said. "And I give coach (Eli) Drinkwitz and the Missouri staff and their players a lot of credit because how that tense that first half ended just shows the class of both teams being able to come out the second half and just play football. Absolutely zero got carried over into the second half. Zero of that carried over postgame. Zero of that carried past that and it just shows the good job of players and coaches on both team and their ability to settle.

"I don’t think either side would say that’s what we wanted to happen. Neither side condones it. It’s an unfortunate situation that happened, but I think it shows the class of the programs to be able to come out and play the second half the way we did."

Florida and Georgia are set to meet at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday on CBS.

I'm still calling bullshit on this weekend suspensions. If the officials had done their job there would have been another play for personal foul roughing the QB. Then the fight would have been deemed to occur during the first half. How in the hell does that official standing right behind Trask NOT call roughing? I've seen love taps flagged compared to that flagrant late hit.

Late hits happen all the time. It wasnt very impactful, its not like it rocked him and he has a concussion. It was a late hit. Happens all the time. It should not have started a bawl.

Its just a little pushing and shoving... It shouldnt have happened but people are such betas.... These dudes hurt each other more on every play than that brawl.... People need to get over it

This is from a Criminole fan that supports a team that holds the NCAA All Time Record for injuring starting QB's out of their games, (I believe it was 7 or 8 in one season).
Accomplished by head DC thug Mickey Andrews and HC Blobby Bowdown... 😏
