Reading the police report based on video showing what truly happened I can see where the players are coming from some now. It looks like the school is trying to apply the new PC police standard of regret afterwards equals rape. I see why the state didnt touch this case. Morality is not supposed to be the standard in these cases.

Good thing there was video on a lot of that stuff or I think in today's PC society some of those kids would have been arrested possibly.

There is a school report also which of course puts it in a different light than what the video shows the cops in their report.

Normally I would say these players need to be dealt with threatening stuff like that but after seeing this I think they have a good point. The school appears to be trying to use the new PC police standard of regret afterwards equals rape in these cases.

Colleges have been setting "Affirmative Consent" as the standard of rape. This effectively means that unless she made some kind of verbal agreement with each separate guy involved, it's "rape." That's not a definition that would be recognized in any court, but it's common in universities these days.

Since colleges are not required to use the "reasonable doubt" standard of determining guilt, it's becoming increasingly common for young men to be suspended, or expelled, for actions that most people would not characterize as "rape" or "sexual assault."

I will be surprised if the school backs down on the suspensions. Most likely, they will just withdraw from the bowl.

I don't know what happened, exactly. But word needs to get around to young, college-age men: if you participate in a group sex act with a woman you barely know, you are making yourself vulnerable to rape accusations. I'm not saying that's right or fair; it's just a practical observation. In this age of endless Internet porn, it should be easier than ever to "explore your fantasies" without putting yourself into risky situations.

Minnesota ends boycott, will prepare to play in Holiday Bowl

"As a team, we understand that what has occurred these past few days, and playing football for the University of Minnesota, is larger than just us," the team said in its statement. "So many before us have given so much to this University and this football team ... we will not ... and we recognize that we must not, let these people down.

"We now ask that you, the members of the media, our fans, and the general public hold all of us accountable for ensuring that our teammates are treated fairly, along with any and all victims of sexual assault. We also ask that the public dialogue related to the apparent lack of due process in a university system is openly discussed and evaluated."

The announcement came after a late-night meeting Friday between Gophers players and university president Eric Kaler and other campus leaders. The statement revealed that the 10 players remain suspended, but also said that the players will have a "fair hearing" in front of a "diverse review panel."

"After many hours of discussion within our team, and after speaking with President Kaler, it became clear that our original request of having the 10 suspensions overturned was not going to happen," the statement said. "Our senior group had a meeting with President Kaler and AD Mark Coyle last night, Friday the 16th, where they agreed to the following requests: That all ten of these players have a fair hearing -- which includes a diverse review panel. Number two, a showing of support for our team and the character shown by the great majority of our players. Finally, that we as a team will use our status as public figures to bring more exposure to the issue of sexual harassment and violence against women."
