Well it looks like he is their main target right now according to reports on several sites. He’s young at 38 and only been a Head Coach for 4 years. The GOOD news Noles is that he’s 14-1 in the month of November. Want some bad news? He’s 0-5 in the month of December ( The money month ) and 0-3 in Bowl games and we’re not talking major bowls. Yes good results overall and a nice year this year, IN THE AAC what conference that is but, IMO this will be a very risky hire. He only makes just over 2 Million a year ( poor guy huh? ) so, he will come cheaper than a Stoops and some of the others who you failed to get would’ve gotten.

Hard to say with a hire like this but he is probably their. best option available. Is Ole Miss and them going after him also?

It wont matter if Ole Piss does. Norvell wants to be a "big name" in college football. Fsu can offer that, Ole Miss cant

That to him is a lateral move. Money or not. Even when Ole Miss was beating Bama b2b they lost to Memphis. It's basically FSU and a handful of other jobs he'd leave for.

He makes right at 3 million with incentives thrown in. That is more than Christobal and what Barry Odom was making at Missouri.

*On a side note did you know during the last two coaching vacancies the two guys Memphis rejected were Barry Odom anddddd get this Jim McElwain. Odom just fired and we know the path of Mc.

Any job that doubles your income is not a lateral move. I promise, if somebody came to me and offered me double my income for basically the same job I would be gone so fast there would be a sonic boom in my wake.

Thing is that if you are really really good at Ole Miss your get to go to the Outback Bowl. If you are really good at FSU you win NC's.

Winning national championships aren’t guaranteed- cashing paychecks generally is

.....FSU betting not jack their potential coaches around over $$$ - jus’ saying

Ole Miss is paying $6 million these days?

Hugh Freeze with Ole Miss at their peak was making $2.5 million. Norvell makes more than that.

Exactly. I guess that beats the Birmingham Bowl but seriously. He wont leave a comfortable job for a lateral move. It is only for places where the National Title is within reasonable reach. FSU falls within that criteria.

They paid that waterhead Taggart 5 mill so Norvell will get more than that most likely. I don't see OM paying 7 or 8.

Not right now, and hopefully never again

Unfortunately, as Paco has pointed out, we're on a reserve where there's only a few trophies worthy of mounting, so we'll likely go home with your run of the mill white tail.

Don’t worry, the Hole media and folks in charge will make him out to be the best thing since slices bread ever.

Noles247 have released two articles--The Pros of hiring Norvell and the Cons of hiring Norvell. So far, pretty even reporting. The Slant, however, who the frack knows what nonsense they'll push out of their arse.

fsu939913,

Agree ! IMO, FSU has far more to offer than Ole Miss.

Noles in troubled waters right now, but so were the Gators before Mullen arrived & reestablished the Gator standard.

When Franks went down against Kentucky, most Gators thought we were headed right back into the soup !

They’re worse off than we ever were. To have a losing record in the acc, ever, is damn near impossible, and the only thing keeping them from a losing record two years in a row is a missed xp by Louisiana-Monroe. At least when we lost to ga southern we had suffered a freakish umber of injuries and were playing a walk on at qb. (That’s not an excuse. We should never have lost that game) They almost lost to a directional Louisiana at full strength in what was supposed to be a cupcake after their national showcase against Boise st. That’s the only thing giving them a pathetic bowl bid in the worst power 5 conference in the country, and in a down year. There was literally one good team and that’s it. We have had bad teams but at least even muschamp and mcelwain beat Tennessee and Kentucky. Those wins are better than anything they’ve done since jimbo went to a superior program. They are a different situation bc they have always cheated and taken the easy way out, and now that lack of an actual infrastructure on which to build a program doesn’t exist. When your “success” is mainly due to a cowardly coach who chooses to go to a weak conference as a shortcut to a shot at national prominence, it’s a joke to say you have any kind of winning tradition or backbone to build on. It fell in their direction for way too long, and now the chickens are coming home to roost. Good! They deserve this and it’s impossible for them to have anything too bad happen. When they are wiped off the earth and remembered as the taliban of college football, that will be a start.
