just like FSU. They are completely dysfunctional and not coached well at all. I would not be surprised if next year is Richt’s last year there. He has not done well at all and their recruiting is even suffering really bad.

The only good coach they have on the staff just left for Temple (Manny Diaz). I expect them to be just as bad if not worse next year.

If you think about it though Miami really hasn’t been any good since the early 2000s. It’s been 15 years so the kids these days don’t remember anything about them ever being any good.

The scUM thugs of Mi-Am-I... It couldn't happen to a more deserving school...

Richt looks like McElwain on the sidelines. It looks like he could care less. When coaches look that disinterested they are done. It’s just a matter of time.

It's at a shockingly bad level - especially when you think about Richt's ability. He's always been a good recruiter and good overall coach. Maybe he's completely checked out? Any thoughts?

My thoughts are above but yes I think he has checked out. His demeanor on the sidelines is that of somebody who has lost interest. He reminds me of the way McElwain looked his last year here.

He was a good recruiter at FSU and Georgia, where the boosters do a lot to "help" recruiting. I don't think UM boosters are helping too much these days.

That game was BRUTAL to watch. Be it Wisconsin running right over what was supposed to be a vaunted Miami D or the pathetic offense of the Canes throwing for all of 48 yards and 169 yards total. Get ready a BIG dose of Gator RB’s next year in GAME 1 in ORLANDO Hurrilames!!

I agree. I thought he'd have them at at least consistent 8-10 wins a year with all the talent around him. His personality is an odd fit for that school and those recruits. It definitely hasn't worked and looks like it will get worse.

Many of their former so-called 'boosters' are either bankrupt, in jail, or dead....

Im a booster....never even spoken to a player. I dont think you realize boosters are just people who go to the games

Richt threw in the towel after his wife had her health scare. He moved football several notches down the list and got all philosophical about things. That’s fine, but he’s paid to win football games and championships. If you want to be a missionary, great go do that. But resign your spot as a coach making millions. Of course, he will not do that. Preachers like their money, too.

Miami is a small expensive private school with a tiny booster base. They just can't compete with large state football factories in the long term. Also think that priorities changed and many higher ups saw the thug U stuff as an albatross to their academic reputation .

Ole GDawg piling on Richt on multiple boards, I see.... whereas I think Richt is well compensated for his services

.....pouring holy water on the undead corpse of ThugU so that they never rise again :D

All Miami has to do is keep the top local talent and they can be contenders but it looks like that might not be the case for quite a while.

Miami’s relevance ebbs and flows with the street value of cocaine. As soon as it becomes the trendy drug of choice again they’ll experience some success and contend for titles.

If you notice the graph you’ll see it’s early 80s peak. 1983 national champions.

1987-91 you see a small spike before it comes down.

Then 2000-2001 we see another small uptick in prices.

2009 the value goes up again and while Miami didn’t win a national title they did have a turnaround season at 9 wins and finished ranked. Their biggest problem was the overall value of cocaine was still well below the 2000-2001 levels and certainly well below those 1980s levels.

Bottom line, Miami needs their Colombian friends to get their act together so they can start competing again.
