Anyways yesterday in 03 my old company, Bravo 4/4 attached to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, crossed the LOD into Iraq, kicking off Operation Iraqi Freedom. They immediately encountered a sandstorm and 15 mikes later lost elements of an Iraqi armor company. 😊

Watching the edge of a sandstorm heading towards you is absolutely creepy AF.

Means Saddam's guys were lost in the same sandstorm.

I don't know if it's official but that was first TIC of the operation.

More fun facts, 1st MEF (USMC) raced V Corps (USA) to Baghdad trying to be first. They ran out of food and were on 1 mre a day until they ran out of fuel and sat there for two days on the side of the road waiting for the log train to catch up. Not all of 1 MEF, just 1st battalion 4th Marines and their mechanized element.
