"What he suffered in that bowl practice - I mean, the guy went through two surgeries and realistically shouldn't be playing for at least 12 months," McElwain said. "He actively took that into a 6-7 month deal. In fact, the doctors told us his knee is actually stronger than his non-surgically repaired knee. That is a credit to him. He is a guy who came every morning at 5:30. He was knocking on the training room door. He was with Coach Kent and those strength guys who are all about functional movement and speed develop there-in, position-specific work. It's amazing to me."
