I think it is a fundamental addiction to power and influence. They can’t let it go.
Psychologically they can’t stop and there is literally a chemical addition to it - increase in testosterone, increase in dopamine and so on. The brain can’t get enough.
Then, the excess dopamine can lead to reduced empathy, more impulsive behavior and a loss of moral bearings.
Sounds like virtually every politician on the planet.
Now I have less sympathy for The Turtle
The Ky gubernatorial election is just over two months away. Hopefully he will step down very soon after that. I know he is vilified by many people (not without reason) but I’ll always be grateful to his instrumental efforts in building up the Republican Party in my home state.

He's a swamprat RINO, they do so much more damage than liberals because they convince conservatives to trust them then act in the swamp's best interest on every big decision. He's bought and paid for and they have the receipts.
He can't leave soon enough IMO.
McConnell has never been a true movement conservative like a Mike Lee or a Ted Cruz. He has done some good things in his career, but I am ready for him to step away.
BTW, sorry to quibble but I live in Indiana (another red state). I live in the suburbs of Evansville near the Ohio River. As the bird flies I live about 10 miles from my home state.
I respect your opinion, however unless someone can explain where his wealth mysteriously came from legally, he is just as bad as the lefty democrats that pass bills only to either get paid personally, Orr increase their power. I cannot support anyone with those credentials. And her in lies EXACTLY why they cannot stand Trump. Trump is not owned by the people who make our criminal politicians rich and run up our debt where WE have to pay it off.
And I in turn respect your opinion as well. Obviously career politicians from both parties have enriched themselves beyond belief.

RINO Senate Republicans are flat out lying about McConnell's health. He's unfit to be the GOP leader and they know it, just as Biden is unfit for president, Fetterman is unfit for the Senate, and Feinstein is unfit for the Senate. The Senate Republicans must remove McConnell from his leadership position immediately. There are simply too many critical issues facing the nation to put up with this country club bullsh*t.
