It was shocking to a lot of democrats. So why do you think he went this direction?
He always been in middle/moderate when it comes to crime. That is Joe.

They were shocked because they were trying to push him in that direction.

Are you shocked or at least surprised at the DC city council, even in the face of signifcant crime increases like car jacking for example, want to LESSEN the penalties. The mayor didn't support this and I'm disappointed in any politician working in DC who is upset with Biden and wants to lessen penalties. I do not understand this thinking. Do you?

DC is pissed because they are a shithole when it comes to crime, and Hiden's hand was forced to acknowledge it. The Potato has enough to be embarrassed about, being listed in the top 50 worst crime cities on the planet is not a good look for him.:D

I just don't understand the ideology that puts VIOLENT REPEAT offenders back on the streets to murder and injure innocent people. But George Soros and now his kid have spent millions getting left wing DA's into these major cities to not prosecute crime the way they should.

No and it actually makes perfect sense. DC city council is extremely progressive. So they will tend try to make very progressive laws. No different than like a extremely red county trying to make extremely conservative laws. It usually takes someone with better sense (in this case Biden and the Mayor) to stop them.

Majority of democrats in the Senate didn't support the new laws, they just support DC independence to make their own laws. I saw that it's the 1st time in 30 years or so that the congress blocked DC from making their own laws.

Now I undertand the DC council president has called the senate to say the bill will be pulled and reworked. Senate will still vote on original bill on Wednesday and expected to have bipartisan vote to go along with the house vote. Looks like Biden won't have to veto at least for now. I will be interested to see if the DC council puts forth another bill and how it compares to original.

I think it will be better but still not good enough. I'm curious as to what the voting numbers will be.

But there's nothing "progressive" at all at being responsible for allowing criminals to roam at large, Something just tickled my memory, I think even Baltimore shit canned either a mayor or prosecutor for being soft on crime, How does that help the people who are most at risk living in these puss pockets of death and destruction?

Just respect the voters. These people are ELECTED officials. Voters thought they wanted one thing, then realized that they didn't. It happens more often than not, especially lately.

So in other words, the inmates are running the asylum? In the District of Columbia, that's still the case or they wouldn't be complaining about this legislation.

Look towards history. It's a step along a path.

You create anarchy, an issue that must be solved and you position your movement/ideology as the only one who can solve it.
