I think that there are portions of California that do amazing things. It's a huge state so you even have different portions that do different great things.
However, there are also portions of California that seem to retard themselves intentionally.
its the land of fruits and nuts, what can you do, but overall it leads the usa in most things.
I spent a semester there in college. I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there. Compared to Paris, London is an exceptionally great city however.
I spent parts of 3 years in Californication, (68-70, San Diego and San Fran) and was very glad on the day that I got outta there for good. I wouldn't go back for a free house on Malibu Beach, if I had to actually live there. And I wouldn't even go back for a vacation if they gave me a week in a 5 star hotel with a limo at my service in any of the big 3 coastal cities.
Parts of Northern and Eastern Cal are some pretty and decent places, but Gavin's syndicate rules there, so no thank you to ever being there.
The same goes for NY City. Upstate NY has some nice places, but they are still ruled by Rats, so no thank you.
Florida still has some crime ridden areas, but nothing like the Blue Rat controlled states, and at least here, we have the 'Castle and 'Stand Your Ground' laws so that you can protect yourself and your family. i'd call for a Sheriff if I had time, but I wouldn't wait on them to take any needed action.

Florida, even in Dim run areas has always backed the Police/Deputies. When I was a deputy in Palm Beach County, the people in Palm Beach Gardens were especially grateful for our efforts to protect their businesses/homes from thieving scum and criminals.
