I still hope there isn’t anybody who believes this guy transferred because of a dorm room when he was 1 week away from being in a new place. Dude is a flake who just wanted to go home, which is fine, but just leave and don’t throw the school under the bus on the way out.

I really don't know what to make of this. Steele is mentioned but no big deal about how he left and abruptly signed with Oregon and now considering USC?

As has been said here and elsewhere, the portal isn’t the problem. The eligibility waivers are. The NCAA are undoubtedly the biggest bunch of clowns on the planet.
They can find a way to grant every single eligibility waiver, and yet they can’t tweak the rule that mandates refs to throw guys out of games for unintentional helmet to helmet contact...insane.
But they aren’t. Some are denied and who the hell knows why. Justin Fields pouts and gets his, so Martell pouts, leaves and gets his. But Luke Ford wants to be back near his sick grandpa in IL and gets denied.
Ford should have just said he didn’t like where he fell on the depth chart...bingo...problem solved...

He just got to town and had buyer's remorse. Now with the portal almost any reason...and you can play immediately. Worst case he takes a year to strengthen up, starts 2 years and still is a first round pick. There's just no downside to transferring.

He wanted to leave and the Jalon Jones situation have him and out. It looked like a winning case for immediate eligibility.
I said when he left that he was no big loss, because he wouldn't beat out Henderson, Wilson or Dean, plus he'd likely be beat out by Elam, and maybe even one of the other incoming summer freshmen.
