Oh no higher wages. Cant have that. After reading this article I thought maybe I should get back into IT. I am more than 16 years removed and would need some re-education. But if the H1Bs are cut off my re-entry might be easier to accomplish, I could retool on the job and get high pay for lower tier support. Or maybe I launch a consulting firm and focus on small business.
When I first came to the Nashville area the paper had about 6 pages of IT jobs. If I remember there were 4 columns per page. When I got laid off it was one column and not even a whole page. I was willing to do admin work for tier one wages but so were thousands of others with better looking resumes.
Maybe this reform will get it back to the good ole days where if you had the degree and were not a total tool , then you could land a high paying job even in entry level IT.
