So a buddy told me about a good experience with products from the Oola distillery in Washington state, not sure where the recommendation came from- either first hand or maybe some marketing scheme he heard about.. Either way, I got online and ordered a few bottles from their distillery in Washington... I had to sign for it from UPS since it's booze, so it took a while to reach my door when I was home.
I've been around long enough that everyone knows I'm not some spammer, and I have absolutely no commercial interest in the brand, but I thought I'd share my thoughts-
IMO Great Vodka, Gin and Whiskey... I normally drink beer, but when I go for the hard stuff it's Titos vodka, Bombay Sapphire gin, and Tullamore Dew whiskey (Tullamore Dew costs about the same as Jameson's but is more agreeable to my tongue). All really available, pedestrian, commercial brands (I know how much Space loves his Blue-Label Johnny LOL) I'm sure...
I'm normally not a small-batch snob, in fact more of a beer-guy if truth be told, and I am NOT an expert liquor reviewer.. So my disclaimer- I do not have a seasoned liquor palate but...
The vodka- Three varieties I tried, Rosemary, Pepper and Plain- All had a nice and almost vanilla flavor from the distillation from the flour they mill onsite, or so they say.
The Gin and Whiskey were also great 'neat' with a really nice flavor of their own. Especially the gin.
At $40/bottle, it's not some super high-end booze, but for someone like me, the Oola makes some fine hootch worth the extra scratch. I'm sure that 40 year-old Macallan is far superior, but at the price, some of most tasty stuff a beer guy like me has had.
Anyone else tried their sauce?
If I am (out of sheer ignorance) pimping an inferior brand at the $40 price-point- Tell me what's better for the same $...
