How come no big time program has gone after him as a head coach? Does he just not want to leave Utah.

Hardcore Mormon. Makes $4.1 million. If he goes 8-4 yearly he will still have a job with no pressure. If he goes 11-1 he will be labeled as a hero many years after.

He has never ever left the western side of the country other than 1 year of Arena League play. He was born in Califorina, played at BYU, played pro ball in Colorado and Cali with a 1 year stint in Louisiana. Has coached nowhere outside of the state of Idaho or Utah.

Same reason LaVell Edwards never left BYU. He had it made. He turned down not only Texas Longhorns but the Detriot Lions. LaVell never left Utah in his playing or coaching career.

If sadgator had multiple wives, he’d need to buy two bottles of Advil per week....
As long as they're not the ones you see in pictures like that Warren Jeffs dude's wives. You know, the ones who like inbreds with the beehive hairstyle.

This. If he ever left the U about the only place he would consider is BYU and he has already turned down his alma mater.

What about Southern Cal?
Who knows. If he was currently sporting a 7-4 record in Utah he wouldn't be on the hot seat. 7-4 at USC has Clay Helton on the near unemployment line.

Then being a devout Mormon living in the very liberal LA area may not be a great fit.

Then age 59 making 4 million a year he can retire at the same job by age 65 and be retired comfortably and be an ambassador of Utah much like Spurrier in Gainesville. Then again he could probably make 6 million or so for a few years at SC. If it works out it adds to his legacy. If it doesn't work out it adds to his bank account.

The whole family stuck around Salt Lake. His son played football for Utah and his daughter is currently a cheerleader. Kyle probably wanted to stay in SL to be close to them. Now they they are grown, who knows. However Kyle has one of the most comfortable positions in all of college football and is paid plenty of money.

Dwag in Iraq would be happy to explain that to you. Right, Iraqi Dwag? :D
Reminds me of the 2015 movie Vacation when the 3-4 border police officers got into an argument and the female cop told the Utah cop to "go home and f*ck your wives."

Yea that’s the thing coaches aren’t really ready to just jump to a high profile job now without additional reasons. Used to be you could only get big money at the top programs but now even G5 coaches make 3 million a year. You can stay at a lower level job, have great job security, and make a lot of money without all the extra bs that comes with being at a top program.

I mean look at coaches like Venables and Aranda. Both make 2 million a year as coordinators and don’t have to worry about running an entire program. You can’t just buy top coaches anymore.
