Occasionally, I run numbers thru Minitab (statistical software) as a part of my job.
Florida was generating data by April and I was running probabilities thru Minitab. It didn't take a FSU/UF trained scientist, which I am, to see that the majority of the cases were younger folks but the majority of the deaths were older folks. I saw this trend very early. If I could see it, why couldn't the armies of Ivy League educated scientists in NY see it and at the very least tell Cuomo not to advocate, cheerlead and yuck it up with his brother on national tv.
It just shows you how incompetent our govt and the bureaucracy really is.

I think the folly in this line of thinking is that people weren't telling him. You're right, even the average citizen knew very early on that older and sicker people were having much worse outcomes.
He's an egomaniacal jackass who I'm sure didn't listen to any good advice he rec'd. His goal was to make the numbers look as bad for Trump and as good for him as possible, and he apparently had enough control of the data to do so.
Meanwhile, anyone questioning the accuracy of the numbers (in either direction) was constantly called a conspiracy theorist.
I do not think this is a Cuomo thing alone but a peek inside of the democrat mind. Cuomo thinking that there might be a bed shortage along with other shortages decided to play God. Remember when zer0 said an elderly person needing expensive life saving surgery might need to just go home and take a pill (and die?) Its the same secular thought that drives these people to support abortion that drives them to cast off the elderly when they become inconvenient. Cuomo was no master strategist trying to make Trump look bad. He like most dem pols has an IQ just north of a pet rock. He like most dems callously judges the value of life based on its utility. For them that rates NH patients at a 0.

This same line of thinking is probably why this Co-vid virus originated in China because their leaders feel like the elderly have no further use to them.
I disagree with the Trump part - he's triggered AF about all things Trump. Trump was going after Covid mismanagement by Blue State Gov's and he knew it. The last thing he wanted was to give Trump more ammo.
I honestly think the guy is, as you say, playing God and felt like those old lives lost didn't matter. If he had to move a few numbers around to make himself look better what's the harm? Surely they'd die soon anyway, right? And the fallout that he did allow to be counted properly just gave him more control and power. It's a win all around.
Same argument with single payer healthcare - if you don't think we'll have death panels you don't know how single payer health care works.

I think it’s more sinister than that. His top aide, who just resigned, had a vested financial interest in many of these nursing homes and made millions off of his policies.
He may have also been banging her, that’s a little less clear.
I still maintain this is about the dems clearing the deck for someone else to replace Hiden in 2024. They only hold their own accountable when it serves their purposes, Cuomo was gainig a lot of steam as a presidential candidate for the dems before these allegations came out.
