Keith Stone Transferring

My revised starting 5 next season:

1 - Nembhard
2 - Locke
3 - Lewis
4 - Johnson
5 - Bassett

Mann, Okauru, Ballard spelling the 3 to 4 guards.
Gak, Stokes, Payne spelling the 1 to 2 bigs.

Okauru’s transferring too, I heard. I liked Keith Stone but he was bad this year. Johnson getting his minutes after he got hurt turned the season around.

SF/PF Keith Stone rsJr Grad-xfer, and PG Mike Okauru Soph intend to xfer out for playing time. Understandable, as neither would be starters next season. However, both are good enough to maybe be starters elsewhere.

Both are good guys and both have been good Gators. I wish them well at their next gig... :)

Coming in to fill the holes,,, or going out to create another 1-2 holes?

CG/SF Ballard is the only other one I see as a possible xfer out.
Who do you see on the in/out bubble?

Ballard, Gak & Stokes are all possibilities. Ballard for sure. Gak may be a medical hardship.

We will also hit the transfer portal ourselves for incoming transfers.

1-2 Post players is all I can see as possible transfers in, preferably true centers instead of more PF's.

Stokes rsFr is not a xfer out prospect imo.
Gak rsJr is conditional on his continued rehab and development???
Ballard Soph could go for playing time.
Stone rsJr Grad-xfer out
Okauru Soph xfer out

PG Nembhard So - Mann Fr -- Fava So WO
SG Locke So -- Klatsky Fr P-WO
SF K.Johnson So - S.Lewis Fr - Ballard So ??
PF Stokes rsFr
PF-C Bassett rsSo - Payne Fr
C - Gak rsJr

Three open slots if Ballard stays, 4 if he goes.

Student-Athletes come to UF for 3 basic reasons imo, though not the only ones.
1. Want to be Gators (brand identification)
2. Want to learn from and play for Mike White & his staff.
3. Want to get a top quality education and join the Gator Nation (network).

I don't think that Mike White is a 'bag-man' kind of guy, nor would I want him to be. o_O
(nor was BillyD)

Totally naive and homerish...

Players come to Florida because of...

and potential exposure and development...

And EVERY school...with the possible exception of Vandy...has bag men...

The only players that care about “wanting to be Gators” are legacy players or kids that grew up fans (which are normally not the top recruits)...

Stone, Okauru, and Ballard were the 3 that I expected to xfer out.
That's the end of it imoho.

Now we'll see if Mike & staff can get a true center or 2 in to replace them on the roster.
With the incoming class of 4 Fr, the 1-2-3-4 positions are already good to go imo.

With Gak, Bassett, and incoming Fr Omar Payne, they would be okay if they all can stay healthy and progress, but they really do need 1-2 true big guys 6-10+, if any are willing and available. As always, JMOHO's...

Stokes becomes a very important offseason issue for the Gators. He has the potential to be a real force in the front court IF he commits to getting in shape and working hard on developing his game. He's strong, good around the rim and a guy we really need to be successful next season. Not many quality options right now in the current list of players in the transfer portal in the C/F positions.

ocala, Stokes seems to have made his decision to work hard and improve (lose weight) in the last couple of months. He improved as the season went along under White & staffs encouragement and coaching. All he has to do imo, is stick to it and continue in the direction that he now seems to be heading. I agree that he has a very good skill set.

He should watch some film of what Barkley could do while in college.

You don't even need graduate transfers any more. The NCAA has declared a bunch of transfers that haven't graduated immediately eligible in football. I don't see how they can deny basketball players the same thing

C Jason Jitoboh 6-10 270 **** - Chattanooga, TN
Final Top 4 Offers: UF, TN -- UCF, UL :p
(rivals lists him as at 6-11 300 ***)

Tune him up into the 255-260 range would be better imo.
I remember the 'Meat-Hook' quite well.
And U-D did better once he was tuned up a bit.

Note: The 1/100 that went to Duke is 6-10 275.
The 3/100 that went to Memphis is 7-0 240.
Somewhere in the middle of that size looks good to me. ;)

Thomas Goldcamp on Twitter:
#Gators G Andrew Fava also in the transfer portal. Big blow for the Rowdy Reptiles.

PG Fava was a ** WO. He turned down small school ships to come to UF.
I can appreciate that he now would like to play somewhere.
So good luck to him at his next gig.
He was a very good Gator and teammate, but his value was on the practice floor.

SG Alex Klatsky ** P-WO, will fill his roll on the practice floor, and he might actually get a little more playing time than SG Krause or PG Fava did.

I'm pretty sure all Goldkamp meant by his tweet about Fava was that the Rowdy Reptiles constantly chant to put him in every time we get a big lead. He was their underdog favorite and they cheered like crazy each time he entered the game.
