Once you have announced on TV past the signing date it should be binding. Why is that not a contract? Assuming he is of age, there has been an offer, consideration (scholarship) and acceptance. That's my business law 101 analysis. I'm sure there are reasons why this is not the case but I wish it were
My analysis is probably dumb from a legal standpoint but it's kind of comical that a signed piece of paper is so different than a verbal announcement to the entire country. In real life there are such things as verbal contracts. However, looks like we have changed D Line coaches so maybe this is not entirely Cece's fault

Actually he doesn't sound like a now that we know the reason. If your kid were a 5 star recruit, would you want him to sign with a school when the position coach he was going to play under quit the day after signing day? Wouldn't you want to know who the next guy was?

He knew Williams was leaving days before, he's said so himself. So if that was his major concern why sign to begin with? Wait and make a decision. So now what, if he doesn't like the coach he'll sign somewhere else? Bottom line is the dad claims other schools have been in contact, which is illegal, so you kinda already see what the motivations here are (at least from the dad's side). Somebody is in his ear (Auburn and Ole Miss ) still trying to get him to sign with them.

What's the motivation? I can agree with one thing. It was a poor idea to announce a choice on signing day if you are really still on the fence. I still believe the responsible course of action under the circumstances would be to make an informed decision. In my book, for an elite talent, that means knowing who the position coach is and making sure it's the right fit. Until that letter gets sent to the school...it's still just a verbal. Verbals get flipped constantly. The only difference here is timing.
That motivation is that the dad doesn't want CeCe at UF and is trying to find any excuse to make that happen. He's said so himself he wanted CeCe to leave the area. And again, they already knew about Williams. CeCe said he heard days before. So using that reasoning days after the fact makes no sense.
I thought the dad was a huge UF fan. Really confusing if he's really trying to convince CeCe to go elsewhere as being reported.

I am cutting through all the "he said this" and "he said that" stuff. I am looking strictly at the circumstances.
Ooze...if you had a son who was a consensus five star nationally rated athlete, would you have him sign a LOI at a school not knowing or having met his position coach? It would be foolish.
I agree with 93/99, and not just if my kid is a 5*. I think that it is prudent to at least meet the coach, do a little research, make sure there isn't a personality conflict, etc. The circus was created by his father and he would have been better off just keeping silent...or issuing a carefully worded statement such as:
"Due to the coaching change at the university of Florida, we have decided to hold off on completing the signing of the NLI. We will gather information over the next several days and will let you know when we make our final decision. Until then, we hope you will respect our privacy."
There is no need for it to play out in the press or, worse yet, on social media. When these things happen (and there seems to be a least one every year), the common thread seems to be the parent doesn't know how to handle the "public part" of the situation.

It happens all the time. Ohio State just lost Drayton after NSD. I haven't checked, but I'm sure Ohio State signed some RBs. These things happen every single year and it will happen again next year to somebody. Every once in awhile somebody (prospect/parent) makes a real big deal about it.
Again I ask how come none of UFs other dline recruits are complaining about this? I don't see defensive line commits Ancrum, Davis, Ivie and Zuniga saying anything. Seems like the simple thing to do would to ask any of those guys if they knew about this in any capacity.
One reason Ryan Davis didn't sign with UF is because we were being too honest with him. He wanted to know more about the WR coach and who it was, etc. UF could have lied to Davis if it would have helped get him to sign the dotted line.

Yes, position coaches move around almost yearly, I mean cmon this is universally understood. Now if a new guy was brought in with lets say an extensive NFL track record, and my son signed there just to play for him, and I felt as if the coaches misled me or him then no I wouldn't let him sign unless I knew who the new coach was gonna be. But that ain't the case here, based on their comments both of them knew. So I don't know why that's suddenly become a sticking point unless you're trying to stall.
