As of last night Jac’s eighth consecutive game hitting a homerun has brought him within one game tonight of tying the all-time NCAA mark. Nevada’s Tyler Bosetti hit homers in nine consecutive games in 2021. So who is Bosetti and what’s his story?

Tyler Bosetti was starkly different from Jac Caglionone. A third baseman for the Wolfpack who was not a “blue chip recruit”, he measured 5-11, 180 pounds. His NCAA record achievement as a junior was an anomaly. Tyler hit only two other round-trippers all season. However, his freakish feat brought All-American honors.

As a senior in 2022 he slipped back into relative anonymity, hitting just three homeruns in 54 games. He went undrafted and unsigned as a free agent by MLB. Tyler played briefly for some independent teams. He tried being an EMT, then a fire fighter, returning to baseball by helping out a high school team. This year Tyler is back with the Nevada program as a quality control assistant.

What Jac already has accomplished is phenomenol, mostly against SEC pitching. He now holds our program and Southeastern Conference records. He also won’t wait long during the MLB Draft to get a call from a general manager. We’re watching one of the best ever not only at UF but in college baseball.

It is indeed great to be Florida Gators, isn’t it?
