Dan Mullen is being trashed on the Finebaum Show and by the National Media. Much of it is deserved but as usual you get a lot of people over the top and calling for Mullen to be fired, suspended, etc.
Personally, I think this whole incident is going to turn into a net positive for the football program. It's great to have a coach that's hated again, kind of reminds me of Meyer and Spurrier eras.

For what? Running down the referees for an explanation from the 5 blind mice? He's protecting our QB. WTF? Whole lot of Gata envy going on out there.

Difference is Spurrier was respected. SOS would give credit to other teams when he lost and he would take (well placed) jabs when he won. Mullen has an excuse for everything and hasn't won yet.

I always loved that about Stevey. I secretly loved listening to him talk ball and other teams. My favorite was the free shoes university.... Had me rolling

Frankly, in my opinion this is an unfair characterization of Coach Mullen. What he did was at best a finable offense. It is over and done, let's let it go.......jim

Don't worry. If the child molester/sleepy rapist gets elected president tomorrow, the whole country will be pining for the days when we had a functioning economy and freedom. Sports will be the least of our problems then.

If that's the metric, what's Kirby's excuse then? He hasn't won anything either. Remember Dan inherited one of the least talent laden teams in the SEC East. He has steadily fixed that problem. offense is better this year than last and that was better than 2018.

He's won the SEC and he's won a CFP game. He's also never lost to Mullen yet Mullen has taken Spurrier-like jabs. Mullen talks like he has SOS's or Meyer's results.

What’s wrong with that? I like a coach that has some confidence and is willing to barb with his biggest rivals. It certainly beats how Muschamp & McElwain handled the program and the media.

Mullen spent nine years in Starkville at a university that has been a doormat for decades. Let’s not equate what he did there with what Kirby has done in Athens. Let’s re-evaluate in six or seven years.

No way a Dawg would have said anything like this when SOS was coaching.

After a coach leaves, the rival fan base all of a sudden comes up with this new found respect. It's just a way to put the current coach down.

"Well I didn't like xxxxx but at least he's not like the new guy..." You can fill in the blanks.

Trust me - when Mullen is gone and there's a new coach it'll be, "Well I didn't like Mullen but at least he's not ......"

If the states where he is leading stay his, then he will be president. But if he flips any of the red ones, and gets over 300, I'm calling it a landslide. :D

Give me a break! you guys HATED Spurrier when he was our coach and dominated you. Don't be so dishonest...that's funny!

Dude, I lived in north Georgia during that time. Hate is an understatement. 1997 or whatever year they beat you.. you know that feeling when your team wins a national title (obviously they don’t).... it was like that for them.

least talented? That’s a weak claim.

Are you attempting to say Mullen will have similar success to Spurrier? Trust me, Mullen will never be SOS. He’s a clown.

Maybe Mullen takes his jabs at Kirby because Kirby consistently takes 5* players and barely gets them into the 6th or 7th round of the NFL draft where Dan Mullen has a history of putting 3 and 4* players into the 1st and 2nd rounds. If you want to talk about player development and who the good high school players should go play for if they want the NFL, there is no question whatsoever. Kirby only muddies up the waters with the free Escalades and Dodge Chargers.

My initial post was about Dan Mullen, if you want to talk politics, please go to The Lounge. Do not hijack my post

I was responding to a political post, you know. I wasn't the hijacker, I was one of the hijacked arguing with the hijacker.

I definetly hated him. But he had my respect because he was an elite coach. He would make arrogant statements and back them up. Mullen is just goofy as hell, and hasnt

I think Mullen has proven he’s a pretty good coach.

Yes, he is. And for those old enough to remember, Spurrier had to deal with some pretty lousy defensive coordinators. Both Mullen and Spurrier have dealt with that and still have been successful. For the record, I never understood how Big Game Bob got his stripes. SOS offenses covered his ass 90% of the time. Hoke was a Joke, that was the saying of the time. Zook was a glorified special teams coach. WTF?

Spurrier had a lot of bad DCs. Stoops was the best one he ever had and hence we won a NC. As good as Spurrier was If he had hired better DCs during his time he would have won more than 1 NT.
Spurrier’s 2001 team was good enough to win the NC but he had Hoke as the DC.

I gave you an  only because you brought up Hoke the Joke. The only thing I hated about Stoops was when he referred Hoke to Spurrier. What Spurrier should have done was promote Bob Sanders to DC for the 1999 season. Sanders called a great game vs Syracuse in the Orange Bowl and we most likely would have faced Miami, and most likely beaten them for the 2001 BCS championship.

There is no doubt the Gata would have kicked UM's sorry arses for the Natty. OSU was a fluke entry and took a bunch of horrible officiating to steal that one from a weak UM team. OSU sucks a lot of media types weenies, I've always despised how many championship games they've wormed their way into without real credibility. If anything, the 2006 Gator team should have shit shamed the Herbstreits into finding their ways into the light. But just like the rest of the FAKE MEDIA, some things will NEVER change.

You must have meant Nebraska in 2001 with a Heisman trophy winner who didn't deserve the Heisman only because nobody wanted to give it to a sophomore named Rex Grossman. I can't even remember that Nebraska QB's name.
