I wrote this on another board and thought it might be worth bringing in here.
What a difference just four games make.
I have taken my Aussie for walks the last 3 years around Winter Park's Park Avenue. Sort of a ritzy shopping area a little north of Orlando I can't afford to shop but it's nice walking, good scenery( not just the foliage
) and good opportunities for the pup to meet people who like dogs. Btw I always would wear a Gator cap and usually a Gator shirt even in the Chump years, during which I seldom heard any comments. But wow, how things have changed! The other day I must have heard "Go Gators!" 7-8 times and witnessed a couple Gator chomps directed at me. On the walk, there was a time I came up on two guys talking. Just two random old men. No mention of UF or Coach Mac nor had they seen me. I just heard one say," My wife thinks he shouldn't settle for X number of wins." The other guy says'"He's just trying to keep everyone thinking realistic for this season." By then they looked at me, and I said, "you must be talking about Coach Mac"
They agreed they were discussing Mac's post game comments, and I joined in their conversation sort of as the mediator agreeing with both sides. They both said that no matter what happens this year, the program was on the rise--and fast. We said goodbye, and as I continued , I smiled thinking "it's truly great to be a Florida Gator"and, delighted to see the buzz back in the perception by many of my beloved Gator program so obvious on my walk. And then I saw my reflection in one of the ritzy shop windows and realized, "crap, I'm just another random old man!
