From Friday's 7-on-7
- Georgia commit William Poole had a tough day yesterday. He was beaten badly in coverage by quite few guys. Justin Watkins, Kemore Gamble, and DaQuon Green were a few of the receivers who toasted him for touchdowns.
- Kemore Gamble had a solid day grabbing quite a few catches with a few touchdowns here and there. He's long and has good ball skills with his length. He played some H-Back/TE for his offense and has embraced that role.
- DaQuon Green flat out stole the show last night. He made tons of catches and had 3 touchdowns in one game alone. In that game two of those catches were just NASTY. He high pointed the ball one time for a touchdown in between two defenders. The crowd and the coaching staff went nuts on that catch.
- I really like 2018 wide out Mark Pope from Southridge. He is listed at 6-foot-1 on some sites, but in person he looks a little shorter. He made quite a few grabs, has some speed and runs solid routes. He is going to be a big time player for his respected class after reclassifying from 2019 to 2018. Alabama leads, but Florida is heavy in the mix too after getting him on campus.
- 7-on-7 games are a really hard setting to judge running backs, but Miami commit Ben Thompson has good hands out of the backfield for a running back. Coaches were around him quite a bit throughout the night, it seems like the staff is after him for a flip. With the running back board a little scarce, that makes sense.
- 2018 offensive lineman William Barnes was offered last night after he left campus. He was participating in the OL/DL camp and impressed the staff enough for an offer. He was the Orlando Rivals camp MVP as well.
- 2018 defensive tackle Timaje Porter from Alabama was there last night and looked like big dude. He has a Florida offer at this time, but I think they would like to see more from him before letting him pull the trigger.
- Florida commit Kadarius Toney showed up near the end of 7-on-7. He spent a lot of time with Tim Skipper while at the camp. He hung out with California defensive back Elijah Blades, who arrived last night as well. The coaching staff was swarming around Blades all night. He looked great body wise, real long and lanky corner like the Gators have been targeting. He has speed on his side as well running two blazing 40 yard dashes this spring. He was planning to commit on June 12th, but pushed it back after landing a few offers. The staff is going to try to lock him up this weekend. He is there until Sunday.
- Florida offered Miramar defensive back Brian Edwards on Saturday after his performance on Friday night. Edwards was solid in coverage for most of the night. He didn't stick out in coverage, but isn't necessarily a bad thing, means he was rarely beaten or had quarterbacks throwing his way.
