I've compiled most of these notes from working on my "Redshirt Report" series. Figured to list the main injury tidbits in a thread here before the full features are posted on the site throughout the next couple of weeks.
--Will Grier is currently 100% healthy, his father and Davidson Day HS cosch, Chad Grier, told me after watching him work out under Mike Kent a few weeks ago. It was more than merely back spasms for Grier earlier in the season. He suffered a herniated disk from heavy lifting in the weight room (his dad said it may have been from deadlifting) and got an epidular prior to when he was cleared for LSU week after not dressing the previous two games. Grier never had surgery to repair the herniated disk but healed well as he eventually scaled back some of his workouts. He's currently at 206 pounds for those of you wondering.
--Bryan Cox Jr. is progressing and healing well from hip surgery he had in mid-December, someone close to Cox told me. He got the stitches out about a month ago and he'll be ready to practice and play in the next couple of months. Didn't specify whether he'd be ready for spring ball.
--Ryan Sousa had sports hernia surgery on Jan. 28 and is expected to miss about 4-6 weeks, his high school coach at Lake Nona, Anthony Paradiso, told me. He should be good to go for spring ball, Paradiso believes. Sousa wanted to get the injury, which has nagged him since high school, finally repaired.
--C'yontai Lewis suffered a dislocated elbow in practice in early November 2014, his mother and someone else close to him told me. It took Lewis a few weeks to recover but he's at perfect health now. Returned to practice before the Birmingham Bowl. Never needed surgery for the injury.
