Not a good move. Sniper units are creating their own special havoc in Ukraine, on Both sides, and the infil training/capabilities has been a key skill on many occasions to give advantage.

I bet some POG’s with a spreadsheet, latte, and tablet (sporting a camo version of My Little Pony) have been watching all these cool videos of UAVs over Ukraine and are thinking infil with deadly intent is passé

My son told me his was one of the last groups to leave Basic and Geiger as specific job specialists.
He's a 331, he says there won't be anymore specifically designated Infantry Marines like that anymore.
He says gone are the days of specializing in either heavy machine guns, machine guns, mortar men, etc. All will now be an all encompassing "Jack of all trades, master of none" motto.

Truly sad what current Marines, and all military service men and women from all branches, have to do and put up with in this "new age" military.

They do this every time. And then they bring them back. Battles are won on the ground inch by inch by grunts and that's how it's going to be even when the grunts are robots.

So now we have no tanks, no tube artillery, no MPs, no engineers, no snipers and a 7% reduction in force projection, plus a personnel reduction of 12000.

They eliminated the 0351 mos a few years ago. They just issue a rocket as a TO weapon and someone carries it.

Not sure who they were training with as it relates to the AAV, but after that (which was only 1 morning) they pretty much kept to themselves and did more urban warfare training.
He actually sent me a video link from Facebook showing 2/2 as they were training, all I got out of it was a bunch of Marines not really looking like they knew what they were doing.
