Harbaugh being Harbaugh. Can Meyer handle it?

"Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, a Michigan Man through and through, attended the annual "cemetery walk" before this week's Ohio State game. While the cemetery walk has been a longtime tradition, Harbaugh made a bit of history by joining in.

. . . .

"And then Harbaugh fully embraced the rivalry, busted out a yellow hammer, and smashed a buckeye nut on Schembechler's grave."

For the video of him crushing Meyer's nuts.

Urban seems to have lost this locker room, much like he did at Florida in 2009 and 2010. Remains to be seen if his health problems pop back up.

JERK!

Pretty impressive win by OSU. Harbaugh's comin though. They should be 10-2 or 11-1, both the Utah and Michigan St. losses were flukes. And that Michigan team just isn't talented at all. They're gonna be hell when he gets his own guys in.

Yep. Just like Coach Mac, with worse luck this year.

Good thing for Urban, he would have reitred at an early age if he lost two straight.
I think these snide little remarks are always hilarious. The man is arguably the best coach in the college game today, and will go down as one of the GOATs. I think there is even a very strong case to be made that he is the best CFB coach to ever roam the home sidelines at BHG.

Before last year, the narrative was that he was afraid of competition and that Saban made him leave lol. Then he played Alabama and ate Saban's lunch (despite predictions to the contrary from some board "experts", and I use that term very loosely). I wonder what the next critique of him will be??

He is a great coach, no doubt. But he is as complete an ass as a human being as one can imagine.
Maybe, maybe not. But the same could be said about a lot of big-time coaches, including our very own Spurs. If you want an all-around nice guy, lets go get Mark Richt. If you want to win games, and dominate doing it, gimme me Meyer every day of the week and twice on Saturdays.
Come on MJ, are you telling me that all things being equal, you wouldn't want Meyer as UF's coach? When he's all-in, and it looks like he's back to being balanced at OSU, he's probably the best coach this side of Belichek.

IT would only be snide if it weren't true.

Some people really have no sense of humor.
Some people really try to diminish Meyer because they were woefully wrong about how good a coach he was, and then doubled-down on their lack of football competence by telling us all how great a coach Muschamp was....sound familiar ?? But hey, maybe you know what a mid-line is

The difference between Spurs and Meyer is that with Spurs, for all his petulant childishness, he has a basic, bedrock integrity. There are things he just will not do. He might act like an ass to rivals, and he often did, but he will not spend one second thinking about cheating. He never allowed the inmates to run the asylum either. Remember him suspending Doug Johnson before an important road game for missing curfew?

I am not sure that is true with Urban. I think Meyer posses a strong sense of situational integrity. His decision making about his players and about discipline was all about what it took to win the next game. He could be harsh in his discipline, as long as it did not impact the next game too bad. Meyer's whole character is based on winning, nothing more, nothing less. He was that way at Florida and it seems he is that way at Ohio State.

I honor his two titles at Florida. I love the fact that he demonstrated that Florida is a brand, not a one coach wonder. But I despise the man intensely.

I agree with some of the things you are saying, but do you remember Meyer suspending Carlos Dunlap before the SEC title game?? Seemed like he took the high road there when other coaches would have opted for the win (something about Bowden, Janikowski, "international rules").
And not too sure you answered my question about whether you'd take him as a coach or not, but I do see what you're saying on some level.

That is a fair example that runs counter to what I was saying. But there are several others that go the other way. I sometimes wonder if the Dunlap suspension was Foley rather than Urban though.

I did not answer it. Sorry. I have said before that I would take another six years just like the Meyer years in their entirety, even with all the warts. So I guess I am not too moralistic about it.. I would not want Meyer back though. For several reasons

Totally reasonable. While I am a big fan of Meyer as a coach, I do think he was a little too lax for my liking when it came to discipline. However, as long as there was no evidence of him breaking rules to win while at UF (and there hasn't been a shred of evidence thus far to substantiate that claim), I would want him back at UF in a heartbeat.
Let's hope Mac can give us similar results without a lot of the "warts" you talked about!!

That's a nice narrative you've constructed there.

Would be interesting if it were true.

It WAS a little creepy when he had a moment with Elliott by his side after the game.
Thought he'd kiss him.
Meyer called it the greatest win of his career.
Hmm.

Hmm.

Lol I love when coaches say nonsense like that.

He's won three national championships and a win against a two loss Michigan with a new staff and a lackluster roster is his greatest win?

Please.

Btw, Elliott is never going to speak to the media again without Meyer there to make out with him to shut him up.

As you are the chief Muschamp excuse maker, I understand your desire to backpedal (if only are DBs can do that well with their own backpedal tonight). I mean, if I was as incredibly wrong as you were during the entire Muschamp debacle, I'd want to pretend like it never happened too (I mean, I'd still own up to it, because that's the honest thing to do, but I can see why you wouldn't).

Yawn. You have quite the selective memory. That or you simply don't read well.

Then again, you did disappear for a long time.
