Garrett Gone...

Ed Werder of ESPN who covers the Dallas Cowboys said the coaching candidates are:

Urban Meyer
Lincoln Riley
Dan Mullen
Josh McDaniels

We better hope Lincoln or Urban takes it. I really don't think Dan would leave us. He seems to passionate about making Florida football great again.

NFL Network just said that Cleveland would NOT be hiring Urban Meyer. They want a coach with NFL experience.

Jerry Jones wants a coach he can control. Not sure any of those guys would fall into that category.

Mullen isn't going anywhere.
Agreed...I feel like Mullen wants to put his mark on CFB and he's a college guy IMO. If I was a good head coach I would never leave a big job like UF when you're having success...the NFL is a meat grinder. Chip Kelly did a good job in Philly and got ran out of town...I mean you can stay in Cleveland and Cincy if you don't mind losing all the time and you'll still get fired about 2-3 years in.

In college if Mullen wins 10+ games, wins the SEC 2-3 times, wins it all 1 time, beats the rivals most of the time he could be there for 10-15 years, making a killing. Most college HBC's don't do well in the NFL. Also you don't have control in the NFL like you do in college...the GM, Owner and Front office are going to dictate a lot. At UF Mullen has a ton of pull and the more he wins the more pull he will have.

Besides all the other reasons a person could list, I will highlight that Dan Mullen and Garrett are/were(Garrett) making 6 million a year.

Dallas can't or won't entice Mullen with money. Even if Dallas were to make a higher offer, I doubt it would be substantial enough to motivate Dan to jump into a hornet's nest, so to speak, with Jerry Jones.

I think he also said the cowboys aren’t getting any of those guys.

Although Meyer is the type of guy who seems like he enjoys challenges, I doubt he would want to deal with possibly the most stressful job on the market. Especially since he's probably already financially set for life.

Tebow Time,

Werder is a fool !

The only one of these coaches with any NFL experience is Josh McDaniel - offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots; but He lacks HC experience of any kind.

Several posters have pointed out that transitioning from college to the pros is difficult. Spurrier, Saban, & others have tried without success.

An NFL Gen Mgr, just like an AD at a Power 5 school, who doesn't insist on hiring someone with HC experience at the appropriate level is a fool & won't last long.

Jerry Jones CEO, Owner, & Gen Mgr of the Cowboys is Abrasive, but not a fool.

IMO, Jones will hire an NFL coach.

The very fact that Mullen gets mentioned as a candidate on the short list for the biggest gig in football should make us all thankful that he is here now and hopefully for a long time.

Next step for Mullen is win a natty so we can bump him up to 9-10 mil a year, then he will certainly be here for a long time.

I’m pretty sure Josh McDaniels was a head coach with the Broncos. It may have only been for 1 year though.

He drafted Tebow! I think he got fired halfway through year two, screwing Tebow I. The process. He started out pretty good, 6-0. And then it was all downhill from there.
