less than 100 showed up for Taggert's pre-season booster gathering in Orlando

there’s some undue optimism in corners of the fanbase right now. But overall we are in store for another five win season or at best 8/7 wins.

He's there for 2 more seasons right? Everybody gets 3 seasons no matter how bad is the norm these days, especially for a non white guy? If they canned him after 2 seasons, the whole PC liberazzi would be questioning it to death. I say give him an extension.

I think most FSU fans are cautiously optimistic. We see some new coaches, with a reputation, an easy schedule, and we hope for good things. I think most are operating on the idea that it cannot get much worse. We have a coach willing to admit things are not working and that he may have made some hiring mistakes; things Jimbo would have not have ever done.

Their schedule is so freakin’ easy that sadgator challenges anyone to find more than 3 losses on it. There is no way that FSU does not win at least 9 games this fall...seriously...
That is what we are hoping for. We have no real hope of making a playoff, so our weak schedule is actually a real boon for us this year.

You might even say that FSU fans are so excited, that they are shot out of a cannon...

No Seminole fan that pays attention is excited... So we may be a little better than last year, that does not make us good. Simply from bad to mediocre. I will be glad to see Willy T gone. Bad hire in my opinion...

Boise St...W
ULM...W
Virginia...W
Louisville...W
NCST...W
Clemson...L
Wake Forest...W
Syracuse...W
Miami...Toss Up
Boston College...W
Alabama State...W
Florida...Toss Up

Seriously....like who are they gonna lose to?!?!?

sadgator could coach ‘em to 9 wins with that schedule...

And sadgator has absolutely no idea how good or bad of a coach Taggart really is, but there is absolutely no way he gets removed at 9 wins...(not counting the bowl)...

Syracuse beat us with their backup QB last year. He did better than their stud Dungey.

NC State always a tough outing with a strong DL.

Virginia is a legit threat to lose as well as Miami.

Unless our OL and secondary are light years better than last season I’ll be happy with a bowl game.

You forgot to use the sarcasm font, sadgator!

Never seen a guy suck the life out of a fanbase quicker than Taggart. I mean it's almost become sad how down they are on the direction of their program. I hope they keep Taggart for a long time, I doubt it though. I'm hoping they win just enough to give them hope that he is turning them around.

I wouldn't count Boise State, Virginia , or NC State as easy wins though. I think they lose to Clemson for sure. I think Syracuse and Miami will be tough to win. I think they lose to us again. Boston College is less talented but better coached , which means I see four wins for certain(ULM, Louisville, Wake Forest, Alabama State), one certain loss (Clemson). One almost certain loss (Florida) , three toss ups (Boise State, Virginia, NC State) , and three games I would say they are slightly more likely to lose than win (Syracuse, Miami, Boston College)

So in my mind I would give them 4 certain wins, 2 toss up wins and one win over their 40/60 odd games. Giving them a 7-5 record, the same he had at Oregon.

It seriously isn’t.

That team has a sh!tload of talent on it. They can out talent pretty much any team on that schedule (sans Clemson, us, and Miami). sadgator seriously expects them to bounce back from last year in a big way in 2019. They are not nearly as bad...and Taggart is not nearly as bad...as last year made it appear.

Sad(ly), I agree with you. Maybe 3 tough games on their schedule. They are sadly scheduling to just make A Bowl, ANY Bowl?

They have some talent but they are loaded in some areas and absolutely barren in others. They are very thin at OL, and since I’ve never seen any team go through a season without injuries on the OL, they’ll be at high school level by the time we get them. They’re probably even thinner at qb (in more ways than one! HEYOOO!). If the skinny kid makes it through the season it will be a minor miracle. Who’s the backup? That Wisconsin transfer? Guy was a wreck up there, where he was protected by 300 lbs of monster midwestern guys three deep at every position. What’s he going to do behind those turnstiles? Francois was at least physically tough and he lost a full season behind a much, much better OL. They still have that akers kid? Or did he leave? Regardless, he’d have to be able to teleport behind that line. Also, the thing to remember about them is they are kids who chose to go to f$u. That says something about them. You don’t go there bc you want to play against the best players in the country week in and week out. You go there bc you’re a front running Prima Donna. They had more talent last year and look at what happened. They’re basically bullies who will quit when you stand up to them. It’s part of the dna of that place. It’s even crazier when you factor in that their two most impressive wins were flukes won against teams with much less talent who played scared in the last minute. They’ll be out coached in every game and if they can’t bulldoze you on a raw talent level they will quit. They are almost like we were under muschamp and mcelwain in that when I look at their schedule they could conceivably win or lose any game except for Clemson and Alabama st. I’d put us with Clemson bc they’re afraid of us now and we won’t lose in the Swamp. ULM will come in and give them a game as well. It would be a huge name win for their program and if everything doesn’t go their way they’ll play scared and could even lose that one. If Boise comes out and works them, which could conceivably happen, they’ll fold like a cheap tent. It’s who they are.

"...sadgator could coach ‘em to 9 wins with that schedule....

Sad, you might be able to, but I don't think Willie T can.

FSU losses as noted above.

Past is the best predictor of the future; not often a coach can make a big change in W-L record from 1 year to next. Which is what makes CDM going from 2017 record‎: ‎4–7 (3–5 SEC) to 2018 record 10–3 (5-3 SEC) so exceptional.

Have u heard him speak?? I would rather watch paint dry.
Ever heard Urban or Saban? They're the same. I can't understand why anyone would want to sit and listen to an hour of coach speak no matter how successful they are.

Way off base Sad, imo anyway, while Jeff is closer... o_O

Boise St...W --- 10-3 Toss UP
ULM...W --- 6-6 W

You certainly have a right to your opinion,,, as I do to mine. However, I have solid reasons for my opinion, how-bout you?

2018 -- FSUcks 7 - 30 Syracuse (+23)

2018 -- FSUcks 28 - 47 NCSt Z(+19)

As to any fear of a home field advantage in Joke Shambles...

2018 -- 6-7 VaTech 24 - 3 @ FSUcks.(-21)

Agreed but people are drawn to winners and right now we don’t have that draw.

As bad as FSU was last year, several other new coaches had similar records, including some highly-regarded coaches.

2017 was almost as bad, and that was when FSU was being coached by a guy with a national championship.

It’s possible that Willie just isn’t a good fit, but I also think that there was a marked decline in team culture during the last 3 Jimbo years.

Solid reasoning as usual.

sadgator thinks the law of cycles in college football just caught up to FSU...

They really hadn’t had a significant down period for like 30 years...it was bound to happen...

Look at all the big name programs who have gone through this...Including us...fairly recently...

Not sure it really was Taggart...but we’ll learn a lot more in 2019 for sure...

Mmm they were pretty bad towards the end of the Bowden years and when they also had Jeff Bowden as their OC.

Yeah there are several potential losses on that schedule. Much like my reaction after seeing one of sad's political posts, I just don't know what he's talking about here.

It was a combo of Taggart, terrible assistants, terrible o line recruiting, players leaving early/not panning out/just never developing. Do i expect another 5 win season....no. Do i expect 10 wins....no.

FSU should win 8 games with their schedule, which I'm fine with, as long as one of them
is not UF

Its not like we have an easy schedule every yr. I think this is something that is just repeated here so its taken as fact. Last yr we had a pretty difficult schedule(played 2 teams in the cfp) along with a slew of good teams. I think the "FSU" plays in a weak co f is just over played and not true. Ive posted the stats here a few times with ACC vs SEC teams over the past 5 yrs. It doesnt favor the SEC. Also, ACC has won 3 of the last MNC (higher than any team during that span). I think both co ferences, the SEC and ACC are both trending up right now.
