"...UF Hall of Famer Mike Peterson is leaving South Carolina to return to Gainesville as outside linebackers coach and alumni liaison, according to Chris Vannini of The Athletic.
Peterson, who was born in Gainesville and played high school football at Santa Fe in nearby Alachua, was a linebacker on Florida’s 1996 national championship team. In 1998, his senior season, Peterson served as a team captain, earned first-team All-SEC and All-America honors and was selected as the Gators’ most valuable player by his teammates.
After graduating from UF, Peterson played in the NFL for 14 years. Playing for Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Atlanta, Peterson recorded 883 tackles, 21.5 sacks and 19 interceptions over 196 games. Peterson was inducted into the UF Hall of Fame in 2011."

Jeff - You and I were at UF the same time. Same 1st game, same graduating class. I was at that UF/Houston game. My first ever, graduated March 1973. Time flies, huh?Paco,
Of course I'm still young - UF Class of '73
1st Game - entering freshman - 1969 - UF vs Houston #1 in Playboy College Poll
3rd & 7 from the UF 23 - John Reaves to Carlos Alvaraz - 77 yards & a TD
Florida Field still had steel bleachers in both end zones !

I remember watching that loss to Missouri. We were down 20-0. Spurrier led a comeback and Ray Graves chose to go for 2 after all 3 TD's and we whiffed. If they had kicked the extra points we would have won 21-20.My first game SOS was still our QB,,, youngsters.....
My first bowl was our 18 - 20 loss to Mizzou. 😒
