For you, Oozie

I'll take that over some obscure Saban disciple from 1996. Mcelwain and Muschamp were on nobodies radar when they were both hired. Its actually kind of concerning.

Welcome Coach Kelly.

Just to mention, Meyer won an NC in his second year so that's kinda what we're looking for.

And please move the Jax Gator Gathering back to a July Saturday. Thanks.

Please God yes...us Gators have been in Purgatory since Meyer left. It is time for the great Gator Nation to be blessed again with offense and a winning team!

Again. My concerns with him are

1. Will he commit to defense or will he just try to our score everyone (we all know that doesn’t “really” work)

2. How badly does he hate recruiting? Is it Spurrier bad where he sucks it up and does it anyway with a big smile on his face or are the kids of the 2010s (which are a totally different drama queen nightmare than they were 20 years ago when Spurrier talked about it) a real problem for him? Sure, get great recruiters on the staff, but I’m not thrilled about the HC having a serious disdain for it.

3. Is he going to have some success and then jump to the NFL the moment that door opens again? I think it’s likely that door is shut for a long time, if it ever does open again, but I️ find it hard to believe he wouldn’t jump if it came up in a few years.

I figured we would hire Norvell before him. This may be total BS looking at the source but I think he could do alright here at UF. Frost would be my first choice.

1. Legit concern, but some of what I read says he is really wanting a school to committ to pay quality assitants and give a good recruiting budget.

2. See above plus Spurrier and Harbaugh carried that moniker as well and have done fine.

3. Not sure on this, but I think many coaches carry some type of worry like this. Example, if we hire Frost will he eventually jump to Nebraska once he makes a name ie-Urban?

Norvell might kill it but definately carries questions as well. I mean is he riding the Fuente wave? Defense?

I definitely wouldn't complain but if I was a betting man I think Kelly ends up at UCLA or A&M probably instead of here. I think he would have no problem getting top classes if he came here however.

Well his name alone will recruit offensive talent. He needs to land a great DC and some guys that can recruit defense. He will take care of the O no doubt. But I gotta think a guy like Jonathan Vilma who is saying all this could end up being a pretty good recruiter.

Legit concerns. Here's what I'd say:

1. Oregon's defenses were not at all bad under his watch.

2009- 35th
2010- 34th
2011- 67th
2012- 44th

The good news? If you adjust for pace they were at or near top 25 most of those years. Because of their offense they had to defense more plays so they gave up more yards and points but their efficiency metrics were always pretty good. And that's at Oregon where they don't get NFL caliber defenders like we would have.

2. Much like Spurrier, not liking it and being bad at it are two different things. His Oregon teams had quite a bit of NFL players on them and for the most part none of those guys were highly rated. Which means he has a good eye for talent...in this state that's all he needs. Consider this...at one point he had Mariotta and Manziel committed at the same time, neither one of them were highly rated but look what they turned into.

3. Don't see that as an issue, he's a college coach. And his methods like all the sports science he uses are tailor made for college, no NFL team is giving him another job deserved or undeserved. He's scratched that itch twice now.

The icing on the cake with this hire would be watching Insta back pedal for months and months on end

Michi-troll fears his insta rebukes, but he's so stupid that he continues to mouth off anyway. Masochist Alert....

Frost is my first choice, but not the only possibility. Rumors will continue to be rampant until a new coach is hired. Nothing new, and nothing to see here, except the continuing pile up of BS...

IF they are stupid enough to hire cow-Chip (very doubtful imo), then I will depart from Gator football until both he and Strickland are fired, which shouldn't be long in the coming. o_O

I'll still have Coach White and the rest of the top quality Gator sports to get me through...

Kelly is the MOST PROVEN head coach out there...guy is a wizard on offense and we will light up the score board with this guy running things. If he gets a good DC and some recruiting we will be a top 10 team again. He's easily the best choice...Norvell and Frost are really good too but I'll take Kelly over all of them easy...and I don't care what happens 5 years down the road. Win now! Get a coach in that can turn this thing around and start kicking ass the first year. If Kelly comes to Gainesville the Gators will nothing nice to play on Saturdays again.

I have no clue who will eventually be hired and everybody is speculating, which is kind of fun. Spurrier said the new coach is still coaching, which rules out Stoops and Kelly. Frost is the flavor of the month and he's certainly proven himself as an OC and what he's done at UCF in 2 years is truly amazing. But it's risky to hire a guy who has never been the CEO of a major football program. There's way more to that job than X's an O's. Maybe he's ready and would do great. But maybe not. Stoops and Kelly are proven coaches who have run big time programs with tremendous success. Stoops would definitely fit in at UF, but I'm convinced he's retired permanently. Would Kelly fit in here and how would he do recruiting in the SEC, especially when he's expressed a dislike for the process? Would he fit in with the athletic department and the big booster clubs, which McElwain apparently did not? No one knows, but he's certainly a proven commodity. It will be interesting to see how it plays out and I just pray this time they get it right!!

This word is going wildfire right now everywhere, even other teams fans are cringing right now by how "true it sounds" all over..

im seeing FSU, LSU, uga and all their fans slowly hope its a tall tale..

That says it all about what hiring him would mean

It's funny watching Insta hate on Kelly while being all in on a Kelly protege (Frost). Try to reconcile that. If Kelly gets rid of Insta then I want him hired even more now. Big win for the program on and off the field :D

A couple online betring sites have now removed UF coaching odds. Several people saying the SEC has cleared Chip and the UAA gave Stricklin their blessing. Hitting that point where several sources all producing similar stories. Don’t know anything, but a lot of smoke on this one right now

Seriously? Don’t get me wrong I would love to see that happen but I would rather have a person who is planning on staying longer than Meyer did!!! Also whoever or whatever is making UFs HC Job So demanding that caused Meyer to step down has to stop… If it’s us fans then we need to take a chill pill!!! Just let the HC do his job and let him build this program from the ground up like Spurrier was able to…no HC should spend more time with the team than he does his own family, it’s not worth it and if you as a HC tell your team/players that family is more important than football you best walk the walk…Meyer preached that to the players but he didn’t walk what he taught…The less stress a HC has on his shoulders the better for the team, the program and the fans, this is a proven fact… This is the main substance / beliefs on why Nick Saban is very successful at the college level… Whenever he went up to the NFL he realized that family always comes first but he learned the hardway and I can promise you he teaches this to the players and walks what he teaches…

If Chipper will rebuild from the ground up I say bring him!!!!! Why does Insta not like the Chipper?

This would be the greatest thing for the Gator Football Program.

Becauae for three years now he has told me “cow-chip kelly will never be the coach at UF”

And now Insta is about to have to put his foot in his mouth like never before
Insta will always deflect and argue things that have nothing to do with anything. We can only pray to God that Kelly is announced as our coach. He'll keep Corral and the Gators will ben dominate on the Grid Iron.

Carpe Diem brutha. Who knows how much time any of us have left? We don’t need another statue...we need to be in the playoffs.

I dont think its true at all, similar scenario is Gruden to Miami. I think it would be a good hire but Kelly is not a long term solution. He doesnt have a Mariota at UF. He would need at least 2 yrs.

I will admit he is one of those coaches who get the fan base excited, runs a fun to watch offense which you guys desperately need becuz everyone falls asleep right now when watching it.

If i were you guys, i would want frost over kelly and try to lock him in. People say he will go to nebraska but people also saud bowden would go to bama. I think Frost is a 15 yr solution. I dont imagine any scenario where chip kelly stays there for more than 4 yrs. Would be an exciting 4 yrs tho.
